MINISTER VAN JUSTITIE EN VEILIGHEID BRENGT WERKBEZOEK AAN BONAIRE, ARUBA EN CURAÇAO

Kralendijk,- Minister David van Weel van Justitie en Veiligheid brengt van 12 tot en met 17 januari een werkbezoek aan Bonaire, Aruba en Curaçao. Het bezoek staat in het teken van kennismaking en het versterken van de samenwerking met diverse justitiële en bestuurlijke partners in het Caribisch deel van het Koninkrijk op het gebied van rechtshandhaving en veiligheid.

Bonaire

De minister start zijn werkbezoek op Bonaire, waar hij kennismaakt met gezaghebber John Soliano en het bestuurscollege. Daarnaast voert hij gesprekken met verschillende justitiële diensten, waaronder het Openbaar Ministerie BES, de Koninklijke Marechaussee, het Korps Politie Caribisch Nederland, het Brandweerkorps Caribisch Nederland en de Justitiële Inrichting Caribisch Nederland. Ook spreekt hij met de waarnemend Rijksvertegenwoordiger Jan Helmond. Minister Van Weel laat zich informeren over de actuele ontwikkelingen en uitdagingen op het eiland. Ook brengt hij een bezoek aan het Regionaal Informatie- en Expertise Centrum Caribisch Nederland (RIEC CN).

Aruba
Na Bonaire reist minister Van Weel door naar Aruba. Op het programma staan ontmoetingen met de Gouverneur van Aruba, de Minister-President en de Minister van Justitie en Sociale Zaken. Verder bezoekt hij de vertegenwoordiging van Nederland in Oranjestad en het Korps Politie Aruba. Hier maakt hij kennis met korpschef Ramon Arnhem en brengt hij een veldbezoek aan het korps.

Daarnaast staan een bezoek aan de drugsverbrandingsinstallatie en het radarsysteem op de agenda. Deze bezoeken zijn gericht op een beter begrip van de lokale aanpak van drugsbestrijding en maritieme veiligheid.

Curaçao
Het werkbezoek wordt afgesloten op Curaçao. Minister Van Weel begint hier met een bezoek aan het Recherche Samenwerkingsteam en het politiebureau. Ook spreekt hij met de US Consul General en brengt hij een bezoek aan de historische synagoge van Curaçao.

Het werkbezoek onderstreept het belang van een sterke samenwerking binnen het Koninkrijk om gezamenlijk rechtshandhaving en veiligheid te waarborgen.

MINISTER OF JUSTICE AND SECURITY PAYS WORKING VISIT TO BONAIRE, ARUBA, AND CURACAO

Kralendijk,- Justice and Security Minister David van Weel is paying a working visit to Bonaire, Aruba, and Curacao from the 12^th up to and including the 17^th of January. The visit is dedicated to getting acquainted and strengthening the cooperation with various judicial and administrative partners in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom in the area of law enforcement and security.

Bonaire

The Minister begins his working visit in Bonaire, where he will meet Island Governor John Soliano and the Executive Council. He will also hold discussions with various judicial services, including the Public Prosecution Services BES, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Dutch Caribbean Police Force, the Dutch Caribbean Fire Brigade, and the Correctional Institution Caribbean Netherlands. He also speaks with acting Kingdom Representative Jan Helmond. Minister Van Weel is briefed on the current developments and challenges on the island. He is also visiting the Regional Information and Expertise Centre Caribbean Netherlands (RIEC CN).

Aruba
After Bonaire, Minister Van Weel will travel on to Aruba. The programme includes meetings with the Governor of Aruba, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Justice and Social Affairs. He will also visit the Representation of the Netherlands in Oranjestad and the Aruba Police Force. Here, he will meet Chief of Police Ramon Arnhem and he pays a field visit to the force.

A visit to the drugs incinerator and the radar system are also on the agenda. These visits are aimed at better understanding the local approach to drugs enforcement and maritime security.

Curacao
The working visit will be concluded in Curacao. Here, Minister Van Weel will begin with a visit to the Criminal Investigation Cooperation Team and the police station. He will also speak with the US Consul General and visit the historic synagogue of Curacao.

The working visit emphasizes the importance of strong cooperation within the Kingdom to jointly ensure law enforcement and security.
