INVESTEREN IN LOKAAL TALENT: NIEUWE STUDENTEN STARTEN BIJ DEFENSITY COLLEGE CARIB

Willemstad,- Tijdens een feestelijke ceremonie op 13 mei zijn acht deelnemers van Defensity College Carib bevorderd tot korporaal. De tweede- en derdejaars studenten hebben hun militaire opleiding afgerond en starten binnenkort op verschillende werkplekken waar zij hun studie combineren met praktijkervaring binnen Defensie. De ceremonie vond plaats in aanwezigheid van de Gouverneur van Curaçao.

Het werkstudentenprogramma van Defensity College Carib, dat in mei 2024 van start ging als pilot op Curaçao, biedt studenten de mogelijkheid om hun studie te combineren met werkervaring binnen Defensie. Jaarlijks start in april een nieuwe lichting studenten die voor maximaal drie jaar deelneemt aan het programma. De deelnemers beginnen met een intensieve militaire opleiding van twee weken en zetten vervolgens hun academische kennis en lokale expertise in op passende werkplekken binnen de Defensieorganisatie. Gedurende het programma nemen de werkstudenten deel aan diverse trainingen en activiteiten, waarbij zij zich ontwikkelen op persoonlijk, professioneel en militair vlak.

Met de komst van deze nieuwe lichting zijn inmiddels 21 studenten van uiteenlopende studierichtingen aan de Universiteit van Curaçao actief als militair werkstudent. Defensity College Carib wil hiermee gemotiveerde studenten de kans bieden om studie en werk bij Defensie op een unieke manier te combineren.

INVESTING IN LOCAL TALENTS: NEW STUDENTS START AT DEFENSITY COLLEGE CARIB

Willemstad,- During a festive ceremony on May 13, eight participants from Defensity College Carib were promoted to corporal. The second- and third-year students have completed their military training and will soon start at various workplaces where they combine their studies with practical experience within the Dutch Defence organization. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Governor of Curaçao.

The Defensity College Carib work-study program, which launched as a pilot in Curaçao in May 2024, offers students the opportunity to combine their studies with work experience within the Defence organization. Every year in April, a new cohort of students starts, participating in the program for a maximum of three years. The participants begin with intensive two-week military training and subsequently apply their academic knowledge and local expertise at suitable workplaces within the Defence organization. Throughout the program, the work-study students participate in various training sessions and activities, through which they develop personally, professionally, and militarily.

With the arrival of this new cohort, 21 students from various fields of study at the University of Curaçao are now active as military work-study students. With this initiative, Defensity College Carib aims to offer motivated students the opportunity to combine study and work at the Ministry of Defence in a unique way.
