ZR.MS. PELIKAAN BRENGT DRINKWATER RICHTING RAMPGEBIED VENEZUELA

Willemstd,- Op verzoek van de Venezolaanse autoriteiten is Zr.Ms. Pelikaan dinsdag 1 september vanuit Curaçao naar de Venezolaanse haven La Guaira vertrokken. Het schip brengt daar drinkwater naar aanleiding van de verwoestende aardbevingen van eind juni.

Het ondersteuningsschip Zr.Ms. Pelikaan neemt 70.000 liter drinkwater mee in haar watertanks en 150 pallets met flesjes water, gelijk aan 150.000 liter. Zr.Ms. Pelikaan is uitgerust met een hijskraan en een groot vrachtruim. Dat maakt het logistieke ondersteuningsschip zeer geschikt voor deze hulptaak.

Eind juni leverde Defensie Caribisch Gebied ook een bijdrage aan de hulpverlening na de aardbevingen in Venezuela. Zo bracht het stationsschip Zr.Ms. Groningen tienduizenden kilo’s aan hulpgoederen naar de getroffen gebieden, waaronder drinkwater, voedsel en medische voorraden voor gewonden en mensen die hun woning kwijt waren geraakt.

Defensie Caribisch Gebied staat het hele jaar paraat om noodhulp te leveren, primair aan de landen van het Koninkrijk, maar eventueel ook aan andere landen in de regio. Dit is met name van belang tijdens het orkaanseizoen. Naast de verdediging van het Koninkrijk is het verlenen van bijstand is een van de hoofdtaken van Defensie in het Caribisch gebied.

Willemstd,- At the request of the Venezuelan authorities, HNLMS Pelikaan departed from Curaçao for the Venezuelan port of La Guaira on Tuesday, September 1. The ship is transporting drinking water to the area following the devastating earthquakes that occurred in late June.

The support ship HNLMS Pelikaan is carrying 70,000 liters of drinking water in her tanks, along with 150 pallets of bottled water, equivalent to 150,000 litres. HNLMS Pelikaan is equipped with a crane and a large cargo hold. Which makes the logistics support ship highly suitable for this relief mission.

In late June, Defence Caribbean Region also contributed to relief efforts following the earthquakes in Venezuela. EL HNLMS PELIKAAN TRANSPORTA AGUA POTABLE A UNA ZONA AFECTADA POR DESASTRES EN VENEZUELA

Willemstd,- A petición de las autoridades venezolanas, el HNLMS Pelikaan zarpó de Curazao hacia el puerto venezolano de La Guaira el martes 1 de septiembre. El buque transporta agua potable a Venezuela por los devastadores terremotos ocurridos a finales de junio.

El buque de apoyo HNLMS Pelikaan transporta 70.000 litros de agua potable en sus tanques, además de 150 palés de agua embotellada, equivalentes a 150.000 litros. El HNLMS Pelikaan cuenta con una grúa y una amplia bodega de carga, lo que hace que este buque de apoyo logístico sea muy adecuado para esta misión de ayuda.

A finales de junio, el componente de Defensa en el Caribe también contribuyó a las labores de ayuda tras los terremotos en Venezuela. Por ejemplo, el buque destacado HNLMS Groningen transportó decenas de miles de kilogramos de suministros de ayuda a las zonas afectadas, incluyendo agua potable, alimentos y material médico para los heridos y para quienes habían perdido sus hogares.
