REACTIE STAATSSECRETARIS ERIC VAN DER BURG OP AANGEKONDIGDE VERTREK WND RIJKSVERTEGENWOORDIGER JAN HELMOND

Waarnemend Rijksvertegenwoordiger Jan Helmond heeft aangekondigd per 1 januari te willen stoppen met zijn werkzaamheden.

We gaan daarmee niet alleen een ervaren bestuurder missen, maar ook een persoon met een groot hart voor Caribisch Nederland.

Ik wil Jan allereerst hartelijk bedanken voor zijn enorme inzet voor Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba vanaf 2010. Met zijn resultaatgerichte en verbindende manier van werken, heeft hij zich vele jaren ingezet voor de inwoners van de drie eilanden.

Ik verwacht zo snel mogelijk met een voorstel te komen hoe we Jan Helmond per 1 januari 2027 als waarnemend Rijksvertegenwoordiger gaan vervangen.

STATEMENT BY STATE SECRETARY ERIC VAN DER BURG REGARDING THE ANNOUNCED DEPARTURE OF ACTING NATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE JAN HELMOND

Jan Helmond has announced his intention to step down from his duties as of January 1st. With his departure, we will not only lose an experienced administrator but also a person with a deep commitment to the Caribbean Netherlands.

First and foremost, I would like to sincerely thank Jan for his tremendous dedication to Bonaire, Statia, and Saba since 2010.

Through his results-oriented and connecting approach, he has worked tirelessly for the residents of the three islands for many years. I expect to present a proposal as soon as possible on how we will replace Jan Helmond as acting Kingdom Representative by January 1st, 2027.
