NIEUWE CATEGORIE SUBSIDIE VOOR INITIATIEVEN SLAVERNIJVERLEDEN

Het eerste tijdvak van een nieuwe categorie van de Subsidieregeling voor Maatschappelijke initiatieven trans-Atlantisch slavernijverleden voor het Caribisch deel van het Koninkrijk gaat vandaag open. Stichtingen en verenigingen kunnen in categorie 2 een subsidieaanvraag doen voor kleinschalige maatschappelijke initiatieven.

Onder categorie 2 vallen: diverse projecten in relatie tot het slavernijverleden, het organiseren van bijeenkomsten of evenementen die bijdragen aan de verwerking van het slavernijverleden, projecten voor educatie en kunstuitingen waaronder tentoonstellingen en voorstellingen. De projecten moeten ten goede komen aan de nazaten van de tot slaaf gemaakten (gemeenschap).

Subsidiebedrag

Het subsidiebedrag per aanvraag voor categorie 2 is minimaal USD 10.000 en maximaal USD 25.000. Er zijn in totaal twee tijdvakken voor categorie 2 waarin organisaties een aanvraag kunnen doen. Het eerste tijdvak is open van 1 december 2025 09.00 uur CET tot 12 januari 2026 17.00 uur CET. Het tweede tijdvak opent begin 2028. 

Over de subsidieregeling

De subsidieregeling is een van de acties naar aanleiding van de excuses voor het Nederlands slavernijverleden die de minister-president op 19 december 2022 aanbood. Voor de subsidieregeling is voor het Caribisch deel van het Koninkrijk een budget van ruim €29.3 miljoen beschikbaar.

In totaal zijn er acht aanvraagrondes voor vier verschillende subsidies, verspreid over drie jaar, waarin organisaties subsidie kunnen aanvragen voor projecten die bijdragen aan bewustwording, erkenning en herdenken en een beter begrip van de doorwerking van het slavernijverleden en de verwerking daarvan.

NEW CATEGORY SUBSIDY FOR INITIATIVES SLAVERY PAST

The first timeslot of a new category of the Subsidy regulation for Social initiatives trans-Atlantic Slavery Past for the Caribbean part of the Kingdom opens today. Foundations and associations can apply for a subsidy for small-scale social initiatives in category 2.

Resorting under category 2 are: various projects in relation to the slavery past, the organizing of gatherings or events that contribute to the healing of the slavery past, projects for education and art expressions including art exhibitions and shows. The projects have to benefit the descendants of enslaved people (community).

Subsidy amount

The subsidy amount per application for category 2 has been set at a minimum of USD 10,000 and a maximum of USD 25,000. In total, there are two timeslots for category 2 in which organizations can file an application. The first timeslot will open on December 1, 2025 at 9:00am CET and close on January 12, 2026 at 5:00pm CET. The second timeslot for this category will open early 2028.

About the subsidy regulation

The subsidy regulation is one of the actions following the apology for the Dutch Slavery past that the prime minister offered on December 19, 2022. A budget of more than €29.3 million is available for the subsidy regulation for the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

In total, there are eight application rounds for four different subsidies, spread over three years, during which organizations can apply for subsidy for projects that contribute to awareness, recognition and commemoration as well as a better understanding of the continued effects of the slavery past and the healing thereof.
