MMHB DOET BEROEP OP BOOTEIGENAREN: HOUDT HET WATER VEILIG.

Kralendijk,- Na verschillende meldingen constateerde de Multidisciplinaire Maritieme Hub Bonaire (MMHB)* samen met STINAPA, dat het vaargedrag van boten en waterscooters op verschillende locaties gevaarlijk is geweest.

Het gaat dan bijvoorbeeld om de volgende locaties: Klein Bonaire, Te Amo Beach, Donkey Beach, het Havengebied, Cha Cha Cha Beach, Spice Beach en omgeving. Met het oog op de festiviteiten op en rondom het water tijdens het Paasweekend en de Dia di Rincon, zijn de ketenpartners van de MMHB ook dit jaar weer actief met betrekking het veilig houden van de wateren rondom Bonaire.

Beroep op booteigenaren

De MMHB doet een dringend beroep op booteigenaren om het water veilig te houden. Booteigenaren worden eraan herinnerd dat het verplicht is om te allen tijde een geldige registratie en vaarvergunning bij zich te hebben. Daarnaast worden alle vaartuigen, inclusief waterscooters, verzocht om rekening te houden met de duikers, snorkelaars en strandbezoekers van Bonaire.

De maximale vaarsnelheid die in het Bonaire Nationaal Marine Park voor alle vaartuigen geldt is 10 km per uur / 5.4 knopen. Het Bonaire National Marine Park loopt vanaf de hoogwaterlijn tot 60 meter waterdiepte en tenminste 75 meter uit de kust.

Alle boten die naar Bonaire varen dienen ervan op de hoogte te zijn dat zij in geval van motor- of technische problemen worden verzocht om – wanneer zij daar dichterbij in de buurt zijn – terug te varen naar hun haven van vertrek. Dit om te voorkomen dat een eventuele situatie met motorpech nog gevaarlijker wordt.

Daarnaast adviseren wij u, in het kader van de veiligheid op zee, het volgende als een boot vertrekt vanaf Aruba of Curaçao naar Bonaire en daarbij motorproblemen of technische problemen ervaart:

– Als de boot dichter bij Curaçao is, ga dan terug naar Curaçao.

– Als de boot dichter bij Aruba is, ga dan terug naar Aruba.

– Als de boot vanuit Aruba richting Bonaire is vertrokken en er motorproblemen zijn, en de boot ligt dichter bij Curaçao, ga dan naar Curaçao om het probleem te laten verhelpen.

Verzoek aan strandbezoekers

De MMHB verzoekt daarnaast ook alle strandbezoekers om in het geval van een onveilige situatie, het registratienummer van een boot (B-nummer) te noteren en deze te melden via:

Het vermelden van de juiste locatie, bootregistratienummer(s) en het toesturen van foto’s en of filmpjes wordt aanbevolen, aangezien dit helpt om meldingen zo goed mogelijk te kunnen afhandelen.

MMHB APPEALS TO BOAT OWNERS: KEEP THE WATER SAFE

Kralendijk,- After several reports, the Multidisciplinary Maritime Hub Bonaire (MMHB)* together with STINAPA found that the sailing behaviour of boats and water scooters has been dangerous at various locations.

This includes the following locations: Klein Bonaire, Te Amo Beach, Donkey Beach, the Harbor area, Cha Cha Cha Beach, Spice Beach and surroundings. In view of the festivities on and around the water during the Easter weekend and the Dia di Rincon, the chain partners of the MMHB are again active this year in keeping the waters around Bonaire safe.

Appeal to boat owners

The MMHB urgently appeals to boat owners to keep the water safe. Boat owners are reminded that it is mandatory to have a valid registration and sailing permit with them at all times. In addition, all vessels, including water scooters, are requested to take into account the divers, snorkelers and beach visitors of Bonaire. The maximum sailing speed for all vessels in the Bonaire National Marine Park is 10 km per hour / 5.4 knots. The Bonaire National Marine Park extends from the high water mark to 60 meters of water depth and at least 75 meters from the coast.

All boats sailing to Bonaire should be aware that in case of engine or technical problems they are requested to sail back to their port of departure when they are closer to it. This is to prevent a possible situation with engine failure from becoming even more dangerous.

In addition, in the context of safety at sea, we advise you to do the following if a boat departs from Aruba or Curacao to Bonaire and experiences engine problems or technical problems:

– If the boat is closer to Curacao, return to Curacao.

– If the boat is closer to Aruba, return to Aruba.

– If the boat departed from Aruba to Bonaire and has engine problems, and the boat is closer to Curacao, return to Curacao to have the problem resolved.

Request to beach visitors

The MMHB also requests all beach visitors to note the registration number of a boat (B-number) in the event of an unsafe situation and to report this via:
