Oranjestad, – The Aruban initiative Fundacion Movemiento ta Bida is one of the three winners of the prestigious Appeltjes van Oranje 2024. During a ceremony at Noordeinde Palace, Queen Máxima presented the awards this thursday afternoon, in the presence of King Willem-Alexander and Princess Beatrix, to organizations committed to combating loneliness. This annual award from the Oranje Fonds honors three initiatives that make a significant contribution to society.
This year’s theme, “Reducing loneliness together,” focuses on initiatives that strengthen social ties and help people break out of isolation. Each of the three winning organizations, including Fundacion Movemiento ta Bida, received a bronze statuette designed by Princess Beatrix and a cash prize of 25,000 euros.

Fundacion Movemiento ta Bida:
This Caribbean foundation from Aruba helps seniors actively participate in society through meetings, workshops, and home visits. Seniors are encouraged to organize activities themselves and support others, boosting their confidence and making them socially stronger.
Stichting Join Us:
This organization from Den Bosch supports lonely young people between the ages of 12 and 30 through biweekly meetings and professional guidance. Young people not only learn to build social connections but also to tackle personal challenges. Join Us is now active in 80 municipalities and offers an online program for young people who cannot attend in person.
Stichting Al Amal:
Al Amal focuses on helping migrant women who often experience loneliness. Through education and group activities, they are connected with their environment. Their approach has a long-term impact as women who have been helped are trained to start new groups themselves, creating a “Domino effect.”
