Nieuwe Koers voor STINAPA

Een nieuw tijdelijk bestuur dat vervangen wordt door een Raad van Toezicht in de toekomst.

Kralendijk – Natuurorganisatie STINAPA heeft een nieuw tijdelijk bestuur, dit bestuur wordt in de loop van 2026 vervangen door een Raad van Toezicht (RvT). Directeur Melissa van Hoorn is heel blij met het nieuwe bestuur. “De nieuwe leden hebben veel ervaring als bestuurder” zegt zij.  De nieuwe leden van het tijdelijke bestuur die straks deel uitmaken van de Raad van Toezicht zijn: 

-Anjelica Cicilia, voorzitter (consultant en voormalig gedeputeerde)

-Peter Hengeveld, algemeen lid (directeur Justitiële Inrichting Caribisch Nederland

-Francis Pieter, algemeen lid (directeur VMBO Bonaire)

-Sherwin Pourier, secretaris (directeur/eigenaar Bonaire Agri & Aqua Business BV).

In het nieuwe bestuur zitten nu tijdelijk twee leden uit het vorige bestuur. Herbert Piar is in dit bestuur penningmeester. Hij blijft tijdelijk in functie voor de overdracht. Herbert Piar zal geen deel uitmaken van de Raad van Toezicht. Kumar Piar is algemeen lid, hij treedt in januari 2026 af en wordt geen lid van de Raad van Toezicht.

Scheiding toezicht en dagelijkse leiding

Met de Raad van Toezicht verandert de manier waarop STINAPA Bonaire wordt geleid. Er is een scheiding tussen het toezicht op de organisatie en de dagelijkse leiding. De raad controleert de directie, geeft advies en steunt haar met de kennis die de raad in huis heeft.

Stinapa wordt een organisatie die snel kan inspelen op veranderingen. De natuurorganisatie is altijd al van groot belang voor Bonaire geweest.  Stinapa hecht veel waarde aan de natuur en zet zich in op de bescherming van natuurparken. De natuur is belangrijk voor de Bonairiaanse economie en de toekomst van het eiland.

40 jaar STINAPA

“Nu we een Raad van Toezicht krijgen, zetten we een belangrijke stap om onze organisatie sterker te maken. NEW DIRECTION FOR STINAPA

A NEW TEMPORARY BOARD THAT WILL BE REPLACED BY A SUPERVISORY BOARD IN THE FUTURE.

Kralendijk – Nature conservation organization STINAPA has a new interim board, which will be replaced by a Supervisory Board in the course of 2026. Director Melissa van Hoorn is very pleased with the new board. “The new members have extensive board-like experience,” she says.

The new members of the interim board who will soon be part of the Supervisory Board are:

-Anjelica Cicilia, chairwoman (consultant and former island commissioner)

-Peter Hengeveld, general member (director of the Correctional Institution Netherlands Caribbean (JICN))

-Francis Pieter, general member (director of VMBO Bonaire)

-Sherwin Pourier, secretary (director/owner of Bonaire Agri & Aqua Business BV).

The new board currently includes two members from the previous board. Herbert Piar serves as treasurer on this board. He will remain in this role temporarily for the transition to the new treasurer. Herbert Piar will not be a member of the Supervisory Board. Kumar Piar is a general member; he will step down in January 2026 and will not be a member of the Supervisory Board.

Separation of Supervision and Daily Management

The Supervisory Board will change the way STINAPA Bonaire is managed. There is a separation between supervision of the organization and the daily management. The board monitors the management, provides advice, and supports the management with its in-house expertise.

Stinapa is becoming an organization that can quickly respond to changes. The nature conservation organization has always been of great importance to Bonaire. Stinapa values ​​nature highly and is committed to protecting the national parks. Nature is essential for the economy of Bonaire and the future of the island.
