UPDATE VERMISSING JESSICA COLLINS

Kralendijk,- De zoektocht naar de 47-jarige Amerikaanse toerist Jessica Collins wordt voortgezet. Haar vermissing werd op donderdagochtend 18 september 2025 gemeld door een lokaal contactpunt voor cruiseschepen bij de politie.

Op woensdag 17 september stapte mevrouw Collins met een rugzak van boord van het cruiseschip Carnival Horizon op Bonaire. Sindsdien is zij niet meer teruggekeerd en ontbreekt ieder direct contact.

Na de melding is de politie direct gestart met de zoekactie, zoals gebruikelijk bij vermissingen en conform het standaardprotocol. Iedere seconde telt bij een vermissing, daarom werd breed ingezet. De Basispolitiezorg (BPZ – geüniformeerde politie) is fysiek op zoek gegaan op diverse locaties, waaronder toeristenaccommodaties en verschillende wijken. Zodra er nieuwe sporen beschikbaar kwamen, werden deze direct opgevolgd.

Daarnaast, is het rechercheteam gestart met het horen van getuigen en met het uitkijken van camerabeelden, om een duidelijke tijdlijn van Collins’ bewegingen vast te leggen. Tot circa 15:15 uur op woensdag 17 september konden haar bewegingen worden gevolgd; daarna ontbreekt ieder spoor.

In de loop van donderdag 18 september lukte het de politie om contact op te nemen met een familielid van Collins. Er zijn signalen geweest dat zij vermoedelijk contact heeft gehad met familie en later mogelijk ook met het cruiseschip. Deze contacten waren echter onvoldoende om vast te stellen dat Collins veilig is. De zoektocht wordt daarom onverminderd voortgezet.

De politie doet een dringende oproep aan Jessica Collins om zelf contact op te nemen met de lokale autoriteiten en te laten weten dat zij veilig is.

The search for 47-year-old American tourist Jessica Collins is still ongoing. Her disappearance was reported to the police on the morning of Thursday, September 18^th, 2025, by a local contact point for cruise ships.

On Wednesday, September 17^th, Ms. Collins disembarked from the cruise ship Carnival Horizon on Bonaire carrying a backpack. Since then, she has not returned, and all direct contact has been lost.

Following the report, the police immediately launched a search operation, as is customary in missing persons cases and in line with standard protocol. Every second counts in such situations, which is why a broad response was initiated. The Basic Police Care unit (BPZ – uniformed police) conducted physical searches at various locations, including tourist accommodations and different neighborhoods. Any new leads that emerged were immediately followed up.

In addition, the detective’s team began interviewing witnesses and reviewing camera footage to establish a clear timeline of Collins’ movements. Her location could be traced up until approximately 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September the 17^th, after which all traces ceased.

On Thursday, September the 18^th, the police managed to establish contact with a relative of Collins. There have been indications that she may have reached out to family and later possibly also to the cruise ship. However, these contacts were insufficient to confirm that Collins is safe. The search therefore continues unabated.

The police make an urgent appeal to Jessica Collins to contact the local authorities directly and confirm that she is safe.

We also ask anyone who has seen Jessica Collins after the afternoon of Wednesday, September 17^th, 2025, or who has any information about her whereabouts, to report this immediately.
