VEILIGE GEZINNEN CENTRAAL IN BERICHT ZJCN ROND INTERNATIONALE DAG VAN HET GEZIN (15 MEI)
Kralendijk,- Op 15 mei werd wereldwijd de Internationale Dag van het Gezin gevierd, een dag die door de Verenigde Naties is uitgeroepen om stil te staan bij de waarde van het gezin als fundament van de samenleving.
Zorg en Jeugd Caribisch Nederland (ZJCN) greep deze dag aan om samen met lokale partners aandacht te vragen voor het belang van gezonde en respectvolle gezinsrelaties, en voor hulp waar dat nodig is.
Een gezin is voor velen een veilige haven, de plek waar liefde, steun en stabiliteit centraal staan. Maar helaas is dit niet voor iedereen vanzelfsprekend. Ook op Bonaire, Saba en Sint Eustatius komt huiselijk geweld en kindermishandeling (HGKM) voor.
Daarom is het belangrijk om te blijven praten over veiligheid en welzijn binnen het gezin – voor kinderen, volwassenen én ouderen.
ZJCN werkt samen met lokale organisaties om bewustwording te vergroten én om hulp toegankelijk te maken voor mensen die zich zorgen maken over de veiligheid in hun thuissituatie.
Bewustwordingsactie: samen voor veiligheid in huis
In de week van 12 mei, én de week erna, worden op alle drie de eilanden huis-aan-huis flyers verspreid. Deze flyers geven informatie over de Adviespunten voor Huiselijk Geweld en Kindermishandeling (HGKM): plekken waar inwoners terecht kunnen met vragen, zorgen of voor hulp. De boodschap is duidelijk: zorg voor elkaar begint thuis – en als het niet goed gaat, is er hulp.
Samen sterk: praat erover
Met dit initiatief wil ZJCN mensen aanmoedigen om het gesprek over veiligheid binnen het gezin niet uit de weg te gaan. Of je nu zelf hulp nodig hebt of je zorgen maakt om iemand anders – er is altijd een plek waar je terecht kunt.

Kralendijk,- On May 15, International Day of Families was celebrated worldwide, a day proclaimed by the United Nations to reflect on the value of the family as the foundation of society.
Care and Youth Caribbean Netherlands (ZJCN) used this day to draw attention, together with local partners, to the importance of healthy and respectful family relationships, and to provide assistance where necessary.
A family is a safe haven for many, the place where love, support and stability are central. But unfortunately, this is not self-evident for everyone. Domestic violence and child abuse also occur on Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius.
That is why it is important to continue talking about safety and well-being within the family – for children, adults and the elderly.
ZJCN works together with local organizations to raise awareness and to make assistance accessible to people who are concerned about safety in their home situation.
Awareness action: together for safety at home
In the week of May 12 and the week after, flyers will be distributed door-to-door on all three islands. These flyers provide information about the Advice Points for Domestic Violence and Child Abuse: places where residents can go with questions, concerns or for help. The message is clear: caring for each other starts at home – and if things aren’t going well, there is help.
Strong together: talk about it
With this initiative, ZJCN wants to encourage everyone not to avoid talking about safety within the family. Whether you need help yourself or are worried about someone else – there is always a place where you can go.
