De campagne Safe Together Strong Together zet een volgende stap met de start van een online publiekscampagne op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba. Via social media worden inwoners geïnformeerd over huiselijk geweld en kindermishandeling, en over de ondersteuning die beschikbaar is op de eilanden.
Met de campagne wil Zorg en Jeugd Caribisch Nederland (ZJCN) samen met de Openbare Lichamen, het gesprek over veiligheid blijven stimuleren en inwoners informeren over waar zij op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba terechtkunnen voor advies en ondersteuning. Niet alleen wanneer mensen zelf met een situatie te maken hebben, maar ook wanneer iemand zich zorgen maakt over een familielid, vriend, buur of iemand anders in de omgeving.
Een belangrijk onderdeel van de campagne zijn video-testimonials van inwoners uit Caribisch Nederland. In deze video’s delen inwoners hun persoonlijke ervaringen met huiselijk geweld of kindermishandeling. Door hun verhalen te delen hopen zij herkenning te creëren en te kunnen bijdragen aan het vergroten van de kracht van de gemeenschap om elkaar te ondersteunen.
“Veel mensen denken dat ze eerst zeker moeten weten wat er aan de hand is voordat ze advies kunnen vragen. Dat is niet zo, als je twijfelt bel naar het adviespunt”, zegt René Clemencia, beleidsmedewerker verantwoordelijk voor de implementatie van de Beschermingscode in Caribisch Nederland. “Wanneer iets niet goed voelt, wanneer u zich zorgen maakt over iemand of wanneer u simpelweg vragen heeft, kunt u contact opnemen met het adviespunt op uw eiland. U hoeft het niet alleen uit te zoeken.”
Advies vragen kan anoniem
De campagne vraagt speciale aandacht voor de Adviespunten Huiselijk Geweld en Kindermishandeling op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba. Iedereen kan hier terecht voor informatie, advies en ondersteuning.
Een gesprek met een adviespunt kan anoniem plaatsvinden en leidt niet automatisch tot een melding of formeel traject. Juist wanneer iemand twijfelt, vragen heeft of behoefte heeft aan advies, kan een gesprek helpen om meer duidelijkheid te krijgen over een situatie en mogelijke vervolgstappen.

De komende maanden verschijnen via social media video’s, verhalen en informatieve berichten die inwoners helpen om signalen van onveiligheid beter te herkennen en te weten waar zij terechtkunnen voor ondersteuning.

The Safe Together Strong Together campaign is taking the next step with the start of an online public campaign on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba. Residents are informed via social media about domestic violence and child abuse, and about the support available on the islands.
With the campaign, Care and Youth Caribbean Netherlands (ZJCN), together with the Public Entities, wants to continue to stimulate the conversation about safety and inform residents about where they can go for advice and support on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba. Not only when people are dealing with a situation themselves, but also when someone is concerned about a family member, friend, neighbor or someone else in the environment.
An important part of the campaign are video testimonials from residents. In these videos, residents share their personal experiences with domestic violence or child abuse. By sharing their stories, they hope to create recognition and contribute to increasing the power of the community to support each other.
“Many people think that they first need to know for sure what is going on before they can ask for advice. That is not the case. If you are in doubt, call the advice point,” says René Clemencia, policy officer responsible for the implementation of the Protection Code in the Caribbean Netherlands. “When something doesn’t feel right, when you are worried about someone or when you simply have questions, you can contact the advice point on your island. You don’t have to figure it out alone.”
You can ask for advice anonymously
The campaign draws special attention to the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Advice Centers on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba. Everyone can come here for information, advice and support.
A conversation with an advice center can take place anonymously and does not automatically lead to a report or formal process. Especially when someone has doubts, questions or needs advice, a conversation can help to gain more clarity about a situation and possible next steps.
