Kralendijk,- Bonaire is opnieuw erkend als een van ‘s werelds toonaangevende duikbestemmingen en heeft 12 Scuba Diving Readers’ Choice Awards in de wacht gesleept, waaronder vijf eerste plaatsen en acht noteringen in de top 3.

Voor het 34e jaar op rij is Bonaire uitgeroepen tot de nummer één bestemming voor kustduiken in het Caribisch gebied en de Atlantische Oceaan, waarmee de al lang bestaande reputatie van ons eiland als een topbestemming voor duikers en liefhebbers van de onderwaterwereld opnieuw wordt bevestigd.

Bonaire werd bekroond in de volgende categorieën:

• 1e plaats – Macro-leven
• 1e plaats – Kustduiken
• 1e plaats – Beginners
• 1e plaats – Onderwaterfotografie
• 1e plaats – Snorkelen
• 2e plaats – Duiken voor gevorderden

Dee meest recente resultaten laten een gestage groei zien voor wat betreft erkenning voor Bonaire: het aantal onderscheidingen steeg van 11 vorig jaar naar 12 dit jaar. Daarnaast nam het aantal eerste plaatsen toe van drie naar vijf, en het aantal noteringen in de top 3 groeide van zes naar acht.

“Dat we voor het 34e jaar op rij worden erkend als de nummer één bestemming voor kustduiken, is een fantastische prestatie”, aldus Elesiër Angel, directeur van Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “Deze prijzen weerspiegelen de uitzonderlijke onderwaterervaringen die Bonaire te bieden heeft, van onze toegankelijke kustduiklocaties en het bruisende onderwaterleven tot snorkelen en onderwaterfotografie. Ze zijn ook een erkenning voor de toewijding van onze lokale gemeenschap en partners, die zich blijven inzetten voor het beschermen en promoten van alles wat Bonaire zo bijzonder maakt.”
