Kralendijk,- Ontelbaar veel veelbelovende en haalbare ideeën voor transformatief klimaatonderzoek komen nooit van de grond. Niet omdat ze tekortschieten, maar omdat ze niet passen binnen de vaste kaders van het huidige financieringssysteem.

Ze voelen te risicovol om in te dienen of te onzeker om de verwachtingen van beoordelaars te doorstaan. Van buitenaf blijven deze vaak onzichtbaar.

Ben jij een klimaatonderzoeker in de breedste zin van het woord en heb je ervaring met publieke financiering en de beperkingen daarvan?

Dit is een uitnodiging om groots te denken en de onzekerheid op te zoeken. Het doel is om waardevolle inzichten te verzamelen voor financiers en onderzoeksinstellingen, zodat we samen kunnen heroverwegen hoe we diverse vormen van klimaatonderzoek mogelijk maken en ondersteunen – met ruimte voor het onvoorspelbare, het collectieve en het écht transformatieve.

Countless promising and feasible ideas for transformative climate research never get off the ground. Not because they fall short, but because they don’t fit within the rigid frameworks of the current funding system.

They feel too risky to submit or too uncertain to meet evaluators’ expectations. From the outside, these often remain invisible. Are you a climate researcher in the broadest sense of the word, with experience in public funding and its limitations?

This is an invitation to think big and embrace uncertainty.

The goal is to gather valuable insights for investors and research institutions, so that together we can reconsider how we enable and support diverse forms of climate research – with room for the unpredictable, the collective, and the truly transformative.
