RELATIEVAARDAG MARINESCHIP ZR.MS. GRONINGEN

Willemstad,- Op zaterdag 29 november voeren 160 genodigde gasten mee aan boord van marineschip Zr.Ms. Groningen tijdens de jaarlijkse relatievaardag op Curacao.

Defensie in het Caribisch gebied en Kustwacht Caribisch gebied geven hiermee een kijkje in de operationele wereld van het stationsschip op zee en er is plaats voor dialoog tussen de overheid, bedrijven en defensie en Kustwacht.

Tijdens deze vaardag kregen de gasten verschillende demonstraties te zien van vliegende en varende eenheden van Defensie en de Kustwacht Caribisch Gebied. Naast de demonstraties waren er rondleidingen aan boord en de traditionele blauwe hap. Begin deze maand vond de relatievaardag plaats op Aruba.

Huidige situatie
Tijdens het openingswoord stond de Commandant der Zeemacht in het Caribisch gebied Walter Hansen stil bij de huidige situatie: “De huidige ontwikkelingen in het Caribisch gebied kunnen aanleiding geven tot zorg.

De bescherming van het Caribisch deel van het Koninkrijk is de hoogste prioriteit van Defensie in het Caribisch gebied.

Er is op dit moment geen acute dreiging richting het Caribisch deel van het Koninkrijk. Het stationsschip voert momenteel patrouilles uit voor de monitoring van de veiligheidssituatie rondom de ABC-eilanden.

Defensie is niet betrokken bij de Amerikaanse operatie in de regio. Defensie houdt de ontwikkelingen nauwgezet in de gaten en houdt het Koninkrijk goed op de hoogte. CZMCARIB beschermt het Caribisch gebied en draagt bij aan stabiliteit en veiligheid in de regio.”

NAVAL RELATIONS DAY OF THE NAVY SHIP HNLMS GRONINGEN

Willemstad,- On Saturday, November 29th, 160 invited guests boarded the navy ship HNLMS Groningen for the annual Naval Relations Day of the Navy Ship in Curaçao.

The Ministry of Defence in the Caribbean and the Caribbean Coast Guard provided a glimpse into the operational world of the station ship at sea, and provided an opportunity for dialogue between the government, businesses, the Ministry of Defence, and the Coast Guard.

During the day, guests were treated to various demonstrations by airborne and maritime units of the Ministry of Defence and the Caribbean Coast Guard. In addition to the demonstrations, there were onboard tours and the traditional “blue snack.” The Naval Operations Day of the Navy Ship took place in Aruba earlier this month.

Current Situation

During the opening speech,  the commander of the Dutch forces in the Caribbean, reflected on the current situation: ”Current developments in the Caribbean may be cause for concern. Protecting the Caribbean part of the Kingdom is the highest priority of the Ministry of Defence in the Caribbean. There is currently no immediate threat to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

The station ship is currently conducting patrols to monitor the security situation around the ABC Islands. The Ministry of Defence is not involved in the American operation in the region. The Ministry of Defence is closely monitoring developments and keeping the Kingdom well-informed. CZMCARIB protects the Caribbean and contributes to stability and security in the region.”
