EEN VOLGENDE STAP IN SAMENWERKING OP BONAIRE.

Kralendijk,- Het begon vijf jaar geleden. Met financiering vanuit het Nationaal Programma Onderwijs werd op Bonaire een traject gestart om het basisonderwijs in de covid periode op peil te houden.

Een traject waarin teams binnen de scholen van het primair onderwijs en de scholen onderling zijn gaan samenwerken. Zo is er op Bonaire een beweging in gang gezet om die samenwerking uit te breiden.

Het doel van deze beweging is om de samenwerking verder vorm te geven met het voortgezet onderwijs, de cultuursector, maatschappelijke instellingen, (lokale) overheid en het bedrijfsleven.

In een volgende stap wordt in oktober een burgerschapsfestival georganiseerd.

De scholen hebben de formele taak gekregen om jongeren te ontwikkelen tot verantwoordelijke burgers. Veiligheid, sociale ontwikkeling en identiteit zijn onderdelen van deze ontwikkeling. Maar de scholen kunnen deze taak niet alleen volbrengen. Daar is ook de inbreng van anderen essentieel. Inbreng van organisaties in de zorg, cultuur, kunst, klimaat, ondernemers, en lokale overheid, is nodig. It takes a village to raise a child.

Onlangs spraken Evelien Ketelaar van Bureau Hebe en Daphne Goudsmit van Theatermakers Radio Kootwijk hierover in een lunchbijeenkomst van de Rotary Club Bonaire.

Het verbinden van mensen om ze te laten samenwerken is hun specialiteit. Vanuit de scholen kregen zij de opdracht om de ontwikkeling naar een duurzame lerende community vorm te geven en te begeleiden. Wanneer educatieve programma’s in dialoog worden ontwikkeld, passen die vaak beter in het onderwijsaanbod.

Maar experts, leiders en ondernemers verbinden met onderwijs, hoe doe je dat? Daar kunnen organisaties als Rotary hulp bieden, o.a. door contacten te leggen.  

De theatermakers zullen specialisten van Bonaire inschakelen om samen met hen verhalende portretten te maken over het eiland.

Die portretten dienen om tijdens het burgerschapsfestival gesprekken over maatschappelijke vraagstukken op gang te brengen. Om collectieve verlangens naar boven te halen, is de centrale vraag: “Wat is voor jou van waarde op Bonaire?”  

Co-creatie, samen realiseren in gedeeld eigenaarschap betekent ook cofinanciering. Niet alleen de scholen, maar ook de overheid participeert hierin en er zijn ook organisaties en ondernemers  die nu al bijdragen in de vorm van onderdak, vergaderruimte en lunches. Voor bundeling van nu nog versnipperde financiering is ook de ondersteuning van OCW nodig.

De beweging naar een duurzame lerende community heeft een flinke impuls gekregen. Forma en EOZ zijn al aan boord, met andere organisaties wordt gesproken. Een hoopvolle ontwikkeling voor Bonaire.

ANOTHER STEP IN COOPERATION ON BONAIRE.

Kralendijk,- It started five years ago. With funding from the National Education Programme, a trajectory started on Bonaire to keep primary education up to standard during the covid period.

A trajectory in which teams within primary schools and schools started working together. Thus, a movement was initiated on Bonaire to expand such cooperation.

The aim of this movement is to further shape cooperation with secondary education, the cultural sector, social institutions, (local) government and the business community. In a next step, a citizenship festival will be organised in October.

Schools have been given the formal task of developing young people into responsible citizens. Safety, social development and identity are components of this development. But schools cannot accomplish this task alone. Input from others is also essential. Input from organisations in care, culture, art, climate, entrepreneurs, and local government, is needed. It takes a village to raise a child.

Recently, Evelien Ketelaar of Bureau Hebe and Daphne Goudsmit of Theatre Makers Radio Kootwijk spoke about this in a lunch meeting of the Rotary Club Bonaire. Connecting people to make them work together is their speciality. The schools tasked them with shaping and guiding the development towards a sustainable learning community. When educational programmes are developed in dialogue, they often fit better into the educational curriculum. But connecting experts, leaders and entrepreneurs with education, how do you do that? That’s where organisations like Rotary can help, including by establishing contacts. 

The theatre makers will engage specialists from Bonaire to work with them to create narrative portraits about the island. Those portraits will serve to spark conversations about social issues during the citizenship festival. To bring out collective desires, the central question is: ‘What is of value to you on Bonaire?’ 

Co-creation in shared ownership also means co-financing. Not only the schools, but also the government participates in this and there are also organisations and entrepreneurs who already contribute in the form of accommodation, meeting space and lunches. Pooling of currently fragmented funding also requires the support of OCW.

The movement towards a sustainable learning community has gained considerable momentum. Forma and EOZ are already on board, with other organisations under discussion. A hopeful development for Bonaire.
