Kralendijk,- Vanaf 4 april 2025 gebruikt het Korps Politie Caribisch Nederland (KPCN) officieel bodycams op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba. Met deze stap versterkt KPCN de veiligheid, transparantie en het vertrouwen tussen politie en samenleving.

Meer bescherming voor burgers en politieagenten Bodycams zijn kleine camera’s die zichtbaar op het uniform van politieagenten worden gedragen. Ze worden ingezet bij bijvoorbeeld controles, handhavingsacties, interventies en andere operationele werkzaamheden. Deze technologie legt situaties objectief vast, stimuleert professioneel handelen en helpt spanningen te verminderen.

Voor burgers biedt de bodycam extra zekerheid dat hun contact met de politie eerlijk en zorgvuldig verloopt. Voor agenten fungeren de beelden als bescherming bij onduidelijkheden of klachten.
