De bevolking van Caribisch Nederland groeide in 2025 met 4 procent ten opzichte van een jaar eerder. De bevolkingsgroei is vooral het gevolg van migratie. Het aantal inwoners van Bonaire groeide het sterkst, ook Saba en Sint Eustatius kregen meer inwoners.

Op 1 januari 2026 woonden er ruim 33 duizend inwoners in Caribisch Nederland. Dat zijn er 1 249 meer dan een jaar eerder, een stijging van 4 procent. Vooral op Bonaire nam het aantal inwoners toe. Ook Sint Eustatius en Saba groeiden. De bevolkingsgroei kwam vooral door migratie. Dat meldt het Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) op basis van nieuwe cijfers.

Ruim duizend inwoners erbij op Bonaire

Bonaire telde 27 611 inwoners op 1 januari 2026. Dat zijn er 1 059 meer dan een jaar eerder, een groei van 4 procent. De stijging kwam vooral door migratie: er kwamen meer mensen op Bonaire wonen dan er vertrokken (1 171 meer). Daarnaast werden er meer mensen geboren dan er overleden (82 meer).

Saba telde 2 270 inwoners op 1 januari 2026. Dat waren er 112 meer dan een jaar eerder, een stijging van 5 procent. Ook op Saba vestigden zich meer mensen dan er vertrokken (119 meer). Daarnaast werden er ook op dit eiland iets meer mensen geboren dan er overleden.

Het aantal inwoners op Saba geboren buiten Caribisch Nederland is nam toe met 120. Vooral het aantal inwoners geboren op Sint Maarten, de Filipijnen, Colombia en de Verenigde Staten groeide.

On 1 January 2026, the population of the Caribbean Netherlands stood at over 33 thousand. That was an increase of 1,249 (4 percent) over the previous year. The increase was largely due to population growth on Bonaire, mainly as a result of migration. On St Eustatius and Saba, the population also grew due to migration. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports this on the basis of newly released figures.
