NEDERLAND:
KINGS OF THE BARIO-MVP KENROY BELLEAU KIEST VOOR URBE UNIVERSITY IN MIAMI

ENGELS:
KINGS OF THE BARIO MVP KENROY BELLEAU COMMITS TO URBE UNIVERSITY IN MIAMI
Kralendijk,– The Bonaire Basketball Federation (BBF) is proud to congratulate Kenroy Belleau, the 2026 Kings of the Bario MVP, on his commitment to URBE University in Miami, Florida, where he will continue his education while joining the URBE Tigers Men’s Basketball Team.
Originally from St. Eustatius and currently living on Bonaire, Kenroy will relocate to Miami in January 2027, taking an important next step in both his academic and basketball journey.
The opportunity came through a connection established by the Island Elite Sports Foundation, creating a pathway for Kenroy to continue his development as a student-athlete in the United States.
Kenroy will be joining a successful URBE basketball program. During the 2025–2026 season, the URBE Tigers finished with an impressive 22–2 record, captured the regular-season championship and advanced to the New South Athletic Conference tournament final. For Kenroy, the move therefore represents not only an opportunity to continue his education in the United States, but also the chance to enter a competitive basketball environment and continue challenging himself at a higher level.
Kenroy’s move also marks another important moment for basketball on Bonaire. Earlier this year, Aïsha Van Haute left the island to continue her academic and basketball development at Winston-Salem Christian School in North Carolina. Kenroy now follows as the second student-athlete moving from Bonaire to the United States to pursue basketball alongside his education.
When Aïsha made her move, BBF spoke about the possibility of her journey becoming the beginning of something bigger. With Kenroy now preparing to take his own next step only months later, the focus shifts from possibility to building momentum.
Two players, two different journeys and two different opportunities — but both demonstrate what can become possible when local development is connected with opportunities beyond the island.
For BBF, this reinforces the importance of continuing to create environments in which players can train, compete and develop, while strengthening relationships with organizations that can help talented student-athletes find opportunities at the next level.
The Federation also recognizes the important role of the Island Elite Sports Foundation in Kenroy’s journey. Connections like these are an important complement to the work being done locally, helping bridge the gap between developing talent on the islands and opportunities abroad.
BBF also extends its sincere thanks to Indebon for its continued support and to the Nederlandse Basketball Bond (NBB) for its guidance in the development of basketball on Bonaire.
Kenroy’s story also reflects the wider Caribbean character of basketball on Bonaire. Born in St. Eustatius and now living on Bonaire, he will carry both experiences with him when he begins the next chapter of his journey in Miami.
BBF congratulates Kenroy and his family on this achievement and wishes him every success as he prepares for his move to Miami in January 2027.
For Bonaire basketball, the significance is not simply that another player is leaving for the United States. It is that a pathway that once seemed distant is becoming increasingly visible to the players coming behind them.
