SPEEL- EN ONTMOETINGSPLEK MISA DI RINCON IS ER VOOR JONG EN OUD

Kralendijk,- In de tuin van de Sint-Ludovicus Bertranduskerk in Rincon is vandaag Misa di Rincon officieel geopend.

De inclusieve speel- en ontmoetingsplek werd geopend door de Minister van Langdurige Zorg, Jeugd en Sport, Mirjam Sterk, en gedeputeerde Samenleving & Zorg van Bonaire, Timoteo Silberie. De opening is het sluitstuk van een traject waarbij bewoners, zorg- en welzijnsinstelling, het OLB en Jantje Beton nauw hebben samengewerkt.

Een plek voor iedereen, in het hart van de gemeenschap

Misa di Rincon ligt op een bijzondere plek: in de tuin van de kerk, in het hart van Rincon, en direct naast dagopvang Cocari voor ouderen en FKPD voor mensen met een beperking. Bij het ontwerp is rekening gehouden met alle doelgroepen: kinderen, ouderen én mensen met een beperking.

“Voor me zie ik precies wat een gemeenschap nodig heeft: een plek waar je samen kunt zijn,” zei de Minister tijdens de opening. “Ieder kind moet mee kunnen doen. Of je nou een beperking hebt of niet. Voor iedereen is het belangrijk om te kunnen spelen en bewegen, om vriendjes of vriendinnetjes te maken. Daarom is het zo belangrijk dat plekken zoals deze er zijn.”

Meer dan een speeltuin: ontmoeting tussen generaties

Wat Misa di Rincon onderscheidt van een gewone speeltuin, is de kracht van de ontmoeting. Kinderen spelen hier naast cliënten van Cocari of FKPD. Een verrijking voor alle betrokkenen, jong en oud, met of zonder beperking.

“Dát is de kracht van deze plek: ze brengt mensen samen die elkaar anders misschien nooit zouden ontmoeten,” aldus de Minister. “En dat is een verrijking voor de cliënten, maar net zo goed voor de kinderen.”

Als eerste Gezonde Buurt op Bonaire is Misa di Rincon meer dan een speelplek. Het is een plek waar spelen, bewegen en ontmoeten samenkomen . Daarmee draagt de plek direct bij aan de gezondheid en het welzijn van de inwoners van Rincon.

Prinses Beatrix plaatste de eerste steen

De opening van vandaag heeft al een bijzondere voorgeschiedenis. In november 2025 bracht Prinses Beatrix een werkbezoek aan Bonaire en deed zij ook Misa di Rincon aan. Zij sprak met kinderen en buurtbewoners over de toekomstige plek en plaatste een Jantje Beton story tile in de pilaar van de toegangspoort. Een symbolisch moment dat de betrokkenheid van de gemeenschap bij dit project onderstreepte.

Kralendijk,- Today, Misa di Rincon was officially opened in the garden of the Saint Ludovicus Bertrandus Church. The inclusive play and meeting place was opened by the Minister of Long-Term Care, Youth and Sport, Mirjam Sterk, and the Commissioner for Society & Care of Bonaire, Timoteo Silberie. The opening marks the culmination of a process during which residents, care and welfare institutions, the Public Entity Bonaire, and Jantje Beton closely worked together.

A place for everyone, in the heart of the community

Misa di Rincon is at a special location: in the garden of the church, in the heart of Rincon, and immediately next to daycare centre Cocari for the elderly, and FKPD for people with impairment. The design takes all target groups into account: children, the elderly, and people with an impairment.

“In front of me, I see exactly what a community needs: a place where you can be together”, said the Minister during the opening. “Every child must be able to join in. Whether you have an impairment or not. It is important for everyone to be able to play and exercise, and to make friends. That is why it is so important that there are places like this”.

More than a playground: intergenerational meeting

What Misa di Rincon distinguishes from an ordinary playground is the power of meeting. Children play here alongside clients of Cocari or FKPD. An enrichment for all those involved, young and old, with or without impairment.

“That is the power of this place: it unites people who would otherwise never meet each other”, according to the Minister. “And that is an enrichment for the clients, but just as much for the children”.

As first Healthy Neighbourhood on Bonaire, Misa di Rincon is more than a playground. It is a place where playing, exercising, and meeting come together. In this regard, the place directly contributes to the health and welfare of the residents of Rincon.

Princess Beatrix laid the foundation stone

The opening already has a special history. In November 2025, Princess Beatrix made a working visit to Bonaire, and she also visited Misa di Rincon. She spoke with children and residents about the future place and laid a Jantje Beton story tile in the pillar of the access gate. A symbolic moment that underlined the involvement of the community in this project.
