WAAROM UW WEB FACTUUR IN 2026 HOGER KAN ZIJN

Kralendijk,- Water- en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) heeft de afgelopen dagen veel vragen ontvangen van klanten over hun elektriciteitsrekening van februari 2026.

Verschillende klanten merken dat hun factuur hoger uitvalt dan gebruikelijk. Over de wijzigingen die hierop van invloed kunnen zijn, heeft WEB in december uitgebreid gecommuniceerd via haar gebruikelijke communicatiekanalen De hogere bedragen op de factuur hebben te maken met nieuwe elektriciteit – en drinkwater tarieven die sinds 1 januari 2026 gelden.

Deze tarieven zijn eind 2025 vastgesteld door de Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM). Volgens de Wet elektriciteit en drinkwater BES, die sinds 2016 geldt, is de ACM verplicht om elk jaar de maximale tarieven te bepalen voor de productie en distributie van elektriciteit en drinkwater op Bonaire, Saba en Sint Eustatius.

Veel klanten zien de verandering echter nu pas terug op hun rekening, omdat de eerste facturen met de nieuwe tarieven eind februari zijn verstuurd.

Daardoor kan de stijging voor sommige klanten onverwacht lijken. De aanpassing van de tarieven hangt vooral samen met een lagere subsidie voor elektriciteit in 2026.

Hierdoor wordt een groter deel van de werkelijke kosten doorberekend in het tarief. Daarnaast zijn ook de kosten voor het produceren van elektriciteit en het onderhouden van het netwerk gestegen, omdat we ons voorbereiden op verdere groei op Bonaire.

Door deze veranderingen zijn voor zowel particuliere klanten als grootverbruikers de vaste kosten en de prijs per kilowattuur (kWh) hoger geworden.

Dit geldt voor klanten met een normale aansluiting en voor klanten die Pagabon gebruiken. Voor Pagabon‑klanten betekent dit dat de prijs per kWh volgens het nieuwe tariefblad is verhoogd.

WEB begrijpt dat hogere energie- en drinkwaterkosten bij klanten vragen kunnen oproepen. Daarom blijft WEB klanten tijdig informeren over wijzigingen in de tarieven en voert het voortdurend overleg met de betrokken ministeries over de betaalbaarheid van energie en drinkwater op het eiland.

WEB blijft zich inzetten voor een betrouwbaar elektriciteits- en drinkwaternetwerk op Bonaire. Daarnaast werkt WEB aan de uitbreiding van groene energie, zodat het eiland in de toekomst minder afhankelijk wordt van olie.
