CBS: START NATIONALE REKENINGEN ENQUÊTE CARIBISCH NEDERLAND 2024

De komende maanden wordt op de eilanden van Caribisch Nederland het jaarlijkse onderzoek onder bedrijven uitgevoerd voor het verslagjaar 2024. Het onderzoek heeft tot doel de economische ontwikkeling op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba in kaart te brengen.

Een onderdeel van dit onderzoek is de Nationale Rekeningen enquête. Hiervoor worden bedrijven op de drie eilanden door het CBS benaderd om een enquête in te vullen. De resultaten van het onderzoek worden in het laatste kwartaal van 2026 gepubliceerd.

Enkele resultaten uit het onderzoek Nationale Rekeningen 2023:

• De economie van Bonaire groeide in 2023 met 6,3 procent. De groei werd vooral gedragen door de bouwnijverheid (21,4 procent) en energie, water en afvalbeheer (18,3 procent). Ook horeca en financiële dienstverlening leverden een duidelijke bijdrage.
• Op Sint Eustatius kromp de economie met 0,5 procent. Vooral het openbaar bestuur drukte het bbp, met een daling van het arbeidsvolume van 6,3 procent. Ook onderwijs en zorg droegen bij aan de krimp, ondanks licht groeiend toerisme.
• Op Saba kromp de economie met 1,6 procent. De daling werd voornamelijk veroorzaakt door minder studenten in het onderwijs en een afname van 4 procent van het aantal banen bij het openbaar bestuur.
• Op Sint Eustatius en Saba droegen onderwijs en openbaar bestuur gezamenlijk bij aan de economische krimp. Op Bonaire viel juist de sterke groei in de bouwsector op, terwijl landbouw en delfstoffenwinning daar met 34 procent afnamen.

Om dit voor de eilanden zeer belangrijke onderzoek voorspoedig te laten verlopen, vraagt het CBS de medewerking van bedrijven. CBS: LAUNCH OF THE 2024 NATIONAL ACCOUNTS SURVEY IN THE CARIBBEAN NETHERLANDS

Kralendijk,- In the coming months, the annual business survey for the 2024 reporting year will be conducted on the islands of the Caribbean Netherlands.

The survey aims to map economic development on Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba. Part of this survey is the National Accounts Survey. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) will contact businesses on the three islands to complete a survey.

The results of the survey will be published in the last quarter of 2026.

Some results from the 2023 National Accounts Survey:

• The economy of Bonaire grew by 6.3 percent in 2023. This growth was mainly driven by the construction industry (21.4 percent) and energy, water, and waste management (18.3 percent). The hospitality industry and financial services also made a significant contribution.
• On St. Eustatius, the economy shrank by 0.5 percent. Public administration, in particular, weighed on GDP, with a 6.3 percent decline in labor volume. Education and healthcare also contributed to the contraction, despite slightly increasing tourism.
• On Saba, the economy shrank by 1.6 percent. This decline was mainly due to fewer students in education and a 4 percent decline in the number of jobs in public administration.
• On St. Eustatius and Saba, education and public administration jointly contributed to the economic contraction. On Bonaire, the strong growth in the construction sector was particularly notable, while agriculture and mining declined by 34 percent.
