Kralendijk,- Gisteren om 07:46 uur werd op Bonaire een stroomstoring geconstateerd die heeft geleid tot een Black-Out, waardoor het gehele eiland zonder stroom kwam te zitten.

Het team van Water- en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) kwam direct in actie en startte, samen met de technici van ContourGlobal Bonaire (CGB), een onderzoek naar de oorzaak van de storing. Er werd onmiddellijk begonnen met inspecties en veiligheidscontroles om verdere schade te voorkomen en een veilige herstart van het elektriciteitsnet mogelijk te maken.

De eerste bevindingen wijzen erop dat de storing vermoedelijk is ontstaan door een instabiliteit in de productie, maar het onderzoek loopt nog. Zowel WEB als CGB voeren vandaag verdere inspecties en technische analyses uit om de exacte oorzaak en het verloop van de storing vast te stellen.

De prioriteit van beide teams was om de stroomvoorziening op een veilige en gecontroleerde manier te herstellen. Dit proces werd gefaseerd uitgevoerd, waarbij eerst de essentiële diensten – zoals ziekenhuis Mariadal, de brandweer en de politie – weer van elektriciteit werden voorzien.

Kort daarna werd de rest van het eiland geleidelijk weer aangesloten op het net. Tijdens het herstelproces trad in het centrumgebied tijdelijk opnieuw een storing op. De technici van WEB hebben met volle inzet gewerkt aan het herstel van de stroomvoorziening in dit gebied. Om 15:20 waren alle verbruikers weer voorzien van stroom. Zodra er meer duidelijkheid is over de oorzaak, zal WEB het publiek informeren.

WEB AND CGB JOINTLY RESTORE POWER SUPPLY AFTER BLACKOUT

Kralendijk,- Yesterday at 07:46 a.m., a power outage was detected on Bonaire which resulted in a blackout, leaving the entire island without electricity.

The team at Water- en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) immediately took action and, together with technicians from ContourGlobal Bonaire (CGB), launched an investigation into the cause of the outage.

Inspections and safety checks were promptly carried out to prevent further damage and to enable a safe restart of the electricity network.

Preliminary findings indicate that the outage likely originated from an incident on the production side, although the investigation is still ongoing. Both WEB and CGB are conducting additional inspections and technical analyses today to determine the exact cause and sequence of events.

The priority for both teams was to restore the power supply safely and in a controlled manner. This process was carried out in phases, with essential services—such as Mariadal Hospital, the Fire Department, and the Police— being reconnected first.

Shortly thereafter, the rest of the island was gradually brought back online. During the restoration process, a temporary outage occurred again in the Centrumgebied area. WEB’s technicians worked with full dedication to restore the power supply in this area. By 03:20 P.M., all customers had their electricity restored.

Once more information becomes available regarding the cause, WEB will inform the public accordingly.
