TERA BARRA GEEFT 800 KIBRAHACHA-BOMEN WEG

Kralendijk, – Vanaf 23 oktober geeft de Stichting Tera Barra gratis 800 Kibrahacha zaailingen weg aan de bewoners van Bonaire. Met deze actie wil de stichting bijdragen aan het herstel van de lokale natuur en het behoud van deze iconische inheemse boomsoort.

De Kibrahacha is een van de meest herkenbare bomen op Bonaire als hij bloeit. Na een regenbui in de droge tijd bloeit de Kibrahacha uitbundig met felgele bloemen. Net als vele andere inheemse bomen neemt de natuurlijke populatie van de Kibrahacha af. Tera Barra hoopt dat door het weggeven van zaailingen steeds meer bewoners deze bijzondere boom in hun tuin zullen planten, zodat de soort zich weer kan uitbreiden over het eiland.

Je kunt helpen de Kibrahacha populatie te vergroten door er een in jouw tuin te planten! Bij Tera Barra kun je daarom gratis een zaailing (één per persoon) ophalen zolang de voorraad strekt. Tera Barra is geopend op donderdag en vrijdag van 8:00 – 12:00 uur en op zaterdag van 8:00 – 13:00 uur.

Tera Barra heeft als één van de belangrijkste doelen om meer lokale bomen te planten. Deze bieden schaduw, voedsel voor vogels en andere dieren in het wild en herstellen de biodiverse natuur van Bonaire.

TERA BARRA TO GIVE AWAY 800 KIBRAHACHA TREES

Kralendijk, Starting October 23, the foundation Tera Barra will be giving away 800 free Kibrahacha seedlings to residents of Bonaire. With this initiative, the foundation aims to support the restoration of the island’s natural environment and help preserve this iconic native tree species.

The Kibrahacha is one of the most recognizable trees on Bonaire when it flowers. After rainfall during the dry season, it bursts into bloom with vibrant yellow flowers. Like many other native trees, the natural population of the Kibrahacha is declining. Tera Barra hopes that by distributing these seedlings, more residents will plant this special tree in their yards, helping the species spread across the island.

You can help increase the Kibrahacha population by planting one in your own garden! Free seedlings (one per person) can be picked up at Tera Barra while supplies last. Tera Barra is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

One of Tera Barra’s main goals is to plant more native trees. These provide shade, food for birds and other wildlife, and help restore the biodiversity of Bonaire’s natural environment.
