Kralendijk,- Mw. Jeaninne Wong-Loi-Sing is per 21 juli 2026 door waarnemend Rijksvertegenwoordiger dhr. Jan Helmond benoemd en beëdigd als waarnemend gezaghebber van Bonaire.

De procedure van de eedaflegging heeft inmiddels plaatsgevonden. Als wnd. gezaghebber zal zij bij afwezigheid van gezaghebber Soliano in functie treden met alle wettelijke bevoegdheden die bij het ambt van gezaghebber horen. Zo wordt de continuïteit van het ambt van de gezaghebber gewaarborgd.

De huidige wnd. gezaghebber, mw. Ingrid Sealy, heeft enige tijd geleden kenbaar gemaakt dat zij haar functie wil neerleggen. De reden ervoor was dat het niet meer te combineren viel met haar functie als diensthoofd bij SSO CN. De wnd. Rijksvertegenwoordiger wil mw. Ingrid Sealy bedanken voor haar inzet de afgelopen jaren als wnd. gezaghebber.

Mw. Jeaninne Wong-Loi-Sing is opgegroeid op Bonaire en heeft zich jarenlang ingezet voor integriteit binnen de publieke sector. In 2024 zijn haar inspanning in Europees Nederland beloond met de prestigieuze Ien Dales Integriteitsaward. Door haar grote maatschappelijke betrokkenheid kent ze het eiland en heeft oog voor wat er speelt op het eiland.

Wnd. Rijksvertegenwoordiger Jan Helmond is blij dat mw. Jeaninne Wong-Loi-Sing de taken als wnd. gezaghebber op zich wil nemen. “Met Mw. MS. JEANINNE WONG-LOI-SING APPOINTED AS ACTING ISLAND GOVERNOR OF BONAIRE

Kralendijk,- Ms. Jeaninne Wong-Loi-Sing has been appointed and sworn in as Acting Island Governor of Bonaire by Acting Kingdom Representative Mr. Jan Helmond, effective as of 21 July 2026.

The swearing-in ceremony has now taken place. As Acting Island Governor, she will assume office in the absence of Island Governor Soliano, with all the statutory powers associated with the office of Island Governor. This ensures the continuity of the office of the Island Governor.

The current Acting Island Governor, Ms. Ingrid Sealy, indicated some time ago that she wished to step down from her position. The reason was that it could no longer be combined with her role as Head of Department at SSO CN. The Acting Kingdom Representative wishes to thank Ms. Ingrid Sealy for her commitment over the past years as Acting Island Governor.

Ms. Jeaninne Wong-Loi-Sing was raised on Bonaire and has dedicated many years to promoting integrity within the public sector. In 2024, her efforts in the European Netherlands were recognised with the prestigious Ien Dales Integrity Award. Through her strong commitment to the community, she knows the island well and is aware of the issues affecting the island.

Acting Kingdom Representative Jan Helmond is pleased that Ms. Jeaninne Wong-Loi-Sing is willing to take on the duties of Acting Island Governor.
