Kralendijk,- Onlangs bracht rotary district governor debbie roopchand uit trinidad en tobago een bezoek aan rc bonaire. assistant district governor frederick nuboer uit aruba kwam met haar mee.

Jan Okhuisen en Wietze Koopman, voorzitter en vice-voorzitter van Rotary Club Bonaire, gaven de prominenten een toer over het eiland voordat ze de wekelijkse lunchvergadering van de club bij Eddy’s Restaurant bijwoonden. Na de lunch kregen ze een presentatie over de activiteiten van de lokale club.

In haar toespraak toonde DG Roopchand zich onder de indruk van de natuur van Bonaire en van de maatschappelijke activiteiten van de club op Bonaire.

Zij gaf ook een aantal nuttige suggesties mee om gebruik te maken van de programma’s die Rotary International te bieden heeft. Met name het Interact Programma voor scholieren van 12 tot en met 18 jaar werd warm aanbevolen.

Rotary is een internationale organisatie met meer dan 35.000 lokale Rotary Clubs met samen zo’n 1,2 miljoen leden. Het motto van Rotary is “Service above Self” waarmee wordt bedoeld: je eigenbelang ondergeschikt maken aan het belang van de maatschappij.

Kralendijk,- Recently Rotary District Governor Debbie Roopchand from Trinidad and Tobago paid a visit to RC Bonaire. Assistant District Governor Frederick Nuboer from Aruba joined her.

 Jan Okhuisen and Wietze Koopman, president and vice-president of Rotary Club Bonaire, gave the prominent people a tour of the island before attending the club’s weekly lunch meeting at Eddy’s Restaurant. After lunch , they were given a presentation on the local club’s activities.

In her speech, DG Roopchand was impressed by the nature of Bonaire and the club’s social activities on Bonaire. She also gave some useful suggestions on how to make use of the programmes that Rotary International has to offer.

In particular, the Interact Programme for school students from 12 to 18 years was warmly recommended.
