Samen met een klein productieteam vertrekt Roosje op 3 april vanuit Bonaire naar La Chorrera, in het hart van het Colombiaanse Amazonegebied, om het leven, de tradities en de uitdagingen vast te leggen van inheemse gemeenschappen die leven in één van de meest biodiverse en kwetsbare gebieden ter wereld.

De serie, bestaande uit tien afleveringen, wordt volledig opgenomen in het Papiaments, met als doel om de verhalen van La Chorrera dichter bij de Caribische eilanden en haar mensen te brengen. Op een respectvolle en intieme manier biedt de documentaire een authentiek inkijkje in het dagelijks leven, de tradities en de eeuwenoude wijsheden van de inheemse bevolking, evenals de grote uitdagingen waarmee zij worden geconfronteerd, zoals ontbossing, verlies van culturele identiteit en de impact van moderne ontwikkelingen.

“Bida den Amazonia” heeft als belangrijkste doel om een stem te geven aan de inheemse gemeenschappen en bewustzijn te creëren over het belang van het beschermen van zowel de natuur als het culturele erfgoed van de Amazone.

Kralendijk,- Filmmaker and Content Creator Casimir Roosje, originally from Curaçao and currently based in Bonaire, officially announces the launch of a unique documentary project titled “Bida den Amazonia”.

Together with a small production team, Roosje will depart from Bonaire on April 3rd on an expedition to La Chorrera, located in the heart of the Colombian Amazon, to document the lives, traditions, and challenges of indigenous communities living in one of the most biodiverse and vulnerable regions in the world.

The series, consisting of ten (10) episodes, will be recorded entirely in Papiamentu, with the goal of bringing the stories of La Chorrera closer to the Caribbean islands and their communities. Through a respectful and intimate lens, the documentary will offer an authentic glimpse into the daily lives, cultural practices, and ancestral knowledge of the indigenous people, alongside the significant challenges they face, including deforestation, loss of cultural identity, and the impact of modern development.

“Bida den Amazonia” aims to give a voice to the indigenous communities and raise awareness about the importance of protecting both the natural environment and the cultural heritage of the Amazon.

Filming will take place throughout the month of April, with the series scheduled for release later in 2025.
