• Tropische Atlantische Systemen: Cristobal en AL92

Tropische storm Cristobal ontwikkelde zich eerder vandaag en bevindt zich momenteel boven het centrale noordelijke deel van de Atlantische Oceaan, nabij 37°N en 41°W, enkele honderden kilometers ten westen van de Azoren. De storm wordt naar verwachting van korte duur terwijl hij noordoostwaarts trekt over koeler zeewater.

Verder naar het zuiden in de tropische Atlantische Oceaan blijft een andere storing (AL92), gelegen rond 12°–14°N en 35°–38°W, geleidelijk ontwikkelen. Deze storing heeft volgens het National Hurricane Center een hoge kans op verdere ontwikkeling met een geschatte 80% kans om in de komende dagen uit te groeien tot een tropische depressie. De omgevingscondities blijven gunstig en indien het systeem tropische‑stormintensiteit bereikt, zal het de naam Dolly krijgen.

Op dit moment houdt de west tot west‑noordwestelijke verplaatsing het systeem ruim verwijderd van het Caribisch gebied en vormt op korte termijn geen directe dreiging voor Curaçao.

Het systeem wordt nauwlettend gevolgd door de Meteorologische Dienst Curaçao terwijl het verder westwaarts over de Atlantische Oceaan trekt.

• Tropical Atlantic Disturbance Update: Cristobal and AL92

Tropical Storm Cristobal developed earlier today and is currently located over the central North Atlantic near 37°N, 41°W, several hundred kilometers west of the Azores. The system is expected to remain short‑lived as it moves northeastward over cooler waters.

Farther south in the tropical Atlantic, another disturbance (AL92) at approximately 12°–14°N and 35°–38°W, continues to show signs of gradual organization. This disturbance over the central tropical Atlantic continues to show a high likelihood of development with an estimated 80% chance of becoming a tropical depression in the coming days. Environmental conditions remain favorable for development and should the system reach tropical‑storm intensity, it would be named Dolly.

At this stage, its west to west‑northwest trajectory keeps it far from the Caribbean and no direct threat to Curaçao is expected in the short term.

The system will be monitored closely by the Meteorological Department of Curacao as it progresses across the Atlantic.
