TCB TEKENT MOU’S MET AMADO VRIESWIJK, ARXON GOMPERTS EN TYCHO SMITS ALS BONAIRE LOCAL AMBASSADORS VOOR 2026

Kralendijk,- Tourism Corporation Bonaire is er trots op de ondertekening van intentieverklaringen (MOU’s – Memoranda of Understanding) met drie Bonaireaanse windsurftalenten, Amado Vrieswijk, Arxon Gomperts en Tycho Smits, aan te kondigen. Hiermee worden zij officieel benoemd tot lokale ambassadeurs van Bonaire voor 2026.

Met de ondertekening van deze intentieverklaringen versterkt TCB haar commitment aan het promoten van lokaal talent en het profileren van Bonaire als een bestemming van wereldklasse voor watersporten.

Amado Vrieswijk, geboren en getogen op Bonaire, is een van de meest succesvolle professionele windsurfers van Bonaire. Hij is PWA Freestyle Wereldkampioen (2021) en meervoudig vice-wereldkampioen en neemt deel aan wedstrijden op het hoogste niveau in Freestyle, Slalom Fin en Foil Slalom. Tot zijn recente titels behoren IFCA Slalom Foil Wereldkampioen (2024) en Nederlands Kampioen Foil Slalom (2025).

Dit is niet de eerste samenwerking van Amado met TCB. In 2022 werkte TCB met hem samen om de iconische “Bonaire Bus” te creëren, die hij nog steeds in heel Europa gebruikt.

Zoals Amado vertelde: “We hebben hem samen ontworpen en tot op de dag van vandaag krijg ik er nog steeds veel reacties op. De wrap uit 2022 ziet er nog steeds geweldig uit.”

Arxon Gomperts ontdekte op 11-jarige leeftijd zijn passie voor windsurfen en werd tweevoudig PWA Wereldkampioen in Slalom Fin U15. Nu 14 jaar oud is, zal hij in 2026 voor het eerst deelnemen aan de U17-categorie, waarbij hij zich zal richten op groei en Bonaire met trots zal vertegenwoordigen.

Tycho Smits begon op 10-jarige leeftijd met windsurfen en traint nu bijna dagelijks rond Bonaire. Hij heeft al drie PWA Wereldtitels en één Europese titel op zijn naam staan ​​en zijn doel is duidelijk: PWA Wereldkampioen worden in de Pro-klasse.

Ook de ouders van Tycho en Arxon zijn ontzettend trots op hun zoons en enthousiast over deze samenwerking, omdat ze zien dat dit jonge mensen op het eiland kan inspireren.

Door deze drie atleten aan te stellen als Bonaire Local Ambassadors voor 2026, versterkt TCB het internationale imago van Bonaire als toonaangevende windsurf- en watersportbestemming en blijft het de volgende generatie inspireren.

Kralendijk,- Tourism Corporation Bonaire is proud to announce the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with three Bonaire windsurf talents, Amado Vrieswijk, Arxon Gomperts, and Tycho Smits, officially appointing them as Bonaire Local Ambassadors for 2026.

By signing these MOUs, TCB reinforces its commitment to promoting local talent and showcasing Bonaire as a world-class destination for watersports.

Born and raised on Bonaire, Amado Vrieswijk is one of Bonaire’s most accomplished professional windsurfers. A PWA Freestyle World Champion (2021) and multiple-time vice world champion, he competes at the highest level in Freestyle, Slalom Fin, and Foil Slalom. His recent titles include IFCA Slalom Foil World Champion (2024) and Dutch National Champion Foil Slalom (2025).

This is not Amado’s first collaboration with TCB. In 2022, TCB partnered with him to create the iconic “Bonaire Bus,” which he still uses across Europe. As Amado shared: “We designed it together, and to this day I still get many reactions. The wrap from 2022 still looks great.”

Arxon Gomperts discovered his passion for windsurfing at age 11 and became a two-time PWA World Champion in Slalom Fin U15. Now 14, he will enter the U17 category for the first time in 2026, focused on growth and representing Bonaire with pride.

Tycho Smits began windsurfing at age 10 and now trains almost daily around Bonaire. He already holds three PWA World titles and one European title, and his goal is clear: to become PWA World Champion in the Pro fleet.
