SPECIAL OLYMPICS WALK-A-THON 2026

Kralendijk,- Special Olympics Bonaire is organizing its annual Walk-A-Thon on Sunday, March 8, 2026, on Bonaire, and we are asking the people of Bonaire to support our athletes so that we can continue turning their dreams into reality. The walk will start at 5:00 AM at the White Slave Hut and will finish at Tia Sani in Rincon.

For participants living in Rincon who require transportation, a bus will depart from Rincon at 3:10 AM. Buses from the Stadium to the White Slave Huts will depart at 4:10 AM, with the last bus leaving no later than 4:15 AM. This year, it has been decided that all buses will depart at the same time to prevent participants from waiting too long at the Slave Huts or starting the walk before 5:00 AM.

The participation fee is $20.00. This fee includes a T-shirt, water, fruit, and a small breakfast at the finish at Tia Sani.

T-shirt distribution and final ticket sales will take place at Kaya Nikiboko Noord z/n (behind the Catholic Church in Playa) on Friday, March 6, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Saturday, March 7, from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. All proceeds from the Walk-A-Thon will go directly toward supporting our athletes of Special Olympics Bonaire, specifically to cover airfare and other expenses related to representing Bonaire in international competitions. Last November, we participated in the SO Kingdom Games 2025 in Curaçao. This year, in June, our athletes will travel to the Netherlands for the SO National Games 2026, and next year they will participate in the World Games 2027 in October in Santiago, Chile.
