Kralenijk,- Djasabra 21 di mart awor STINAPA ta organisá un biaha mas su Lionfish Derby na Parke Nashonal Washington Slagbaai.

Durante e kompetensia akí 15 tim ta kompetí kontra otro pa piska e  lionfish di mas grandi, piska e kantidat mas grandi, i piska e lionfish di  mas chikitu. Kada tim ta konsistí di dos yagdó i un spotter.

DE LIONFISH DERBY GAAT WEER VAN START!

Kralendijk,- Op 21 maart organiseert STINAPA opnieuw de Lionfish Derby in Washington Slagbaai National Park. Tijdens deze wedstrijd gaan 15 teams de strijd met elkaar aan om de meeste, de grootste en de kleinste lionfish. Elk team bestaat uit twee jagers en één spotter.

De lionfish werd voor het eerst gespot voor de kust van Bonaire in 2009. Sindsdien werkt STINAPA samen met een toegewijde groep vrijwilligers om deze invasieve soort te monitoren, volgen en onder controle te houden. Eén van de manieren waarop dit gebeurt, is door het organiseren van de jaarlijkse Lionfish Derby, waarbij deelnemers actief op lionfish jagen.

De Lionfish Derby 2026 start om 08.00 uur bij de ingang van Washington Slagbaai National Park. Alle deelnemers moeten uiterlijk om 15.00 uur terug zijn bij de ingang voor het tellen van de vangst. Na afloop vindt er een happy hour plaats waar teams de vissen kunnen fileren en doneren. Tijdens dit moment maakt STINAPA ook de winnaars bekend voor de grootste vis, de meeste vangsten en de kleinste vis.

THE LIONFISH DERBY IS BACK!

Kralendijk,- On March 21st, STINAPA is organizing the Lionfish Derby once again at Washington Slagbaai National Park. During this competition, 15 teams will compete to catch the most, the largest, and the smallest lionfish. Each team consists of two hunters and one spotter.

Lionfish were first spotted off the coast of Bonaire in 2009. Since then, STINAPA has been working together with a dedicated group of volunteers to track, monitor, and control this invasive species. One of the ways this is done is by organizing the annual Lionfish Derby, where participants actively hunt lionfish.

The 2026 Lionfish Derby will start at 8:00 AM at the entrance of Washington Slagbaai National Park, and all hunters are expected to return by 3:00 PM for the fish count. Afterwards, there will be a happy hour where teams can fillet their catch and donate the fish. During this time, STINAPA will also announce the winners for largest fish, most catches, and smallest fish.
