CRIMINELE UITBUITING VAN JONGEREN: CAMPAGNE ‘UIT DE GREEP’ SLAAT ALARM
Kralendijk,- Op maandag 10 juni is de bewustwordingscampagne ‘Uit de Greep’ van start gegaan. Het hoogtepunt vond plaats op donderdag 13 juni op het VMBO op Bonaire, waar de eerste actie werd uitgevoerd.
De campagne richt zich op jongeren op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba en vraagt aandacht voor het groeiende probleem van criminele uitbuiting.
Naast de aftrap op het VMBO wordt de campagne volgend schooljaar ook uitgerold op het Liseo op Bonaire en de Comprehensive School op Saba i Gwendolyn van Putten School op Sint Eustatius.
Jongeren worden steeds vaker slachtoffer
Jongeren worden steeds vaker – vaak zonder dat ze het doorhebben – benaderd door mensen die hen willen inzetten voor strafbare activiteiten. Wat begint als iets kleins, zoals het ophalen of doorgeven van spullen, of het uitlenen van een bankrekening, kan grote gevolgen hebben. Vaak gebeurt dit onder druk, door misleiding of chantage.
Flyeractie en risicocheck op school
Tijdens de actie ontvingen VMBO-leerlingen een flyer met herkenningspunten en een QR-code naar een online risicocheck. Lokale influencers, IND CN, KPCN, Kmar en Riec CN gingen met jongeren in gesprek om het onderwerp bespreekbaar te maken.
Tegelijkertijd verschenen advertenties in de krant, radiospots, social media berichten en verwijzingen naar www.rijksdienstcn.com/uitdegreep. Op de site kunnen jongeren en ouders nagaan of er sprake is van risico, en wat ze kunnen doen bij twijfel.
Herken de signalen
Criminele uitbuiting begint vaak met:
• Een klusje dat geheim moet blijven
• De belofte van snel geld of spullen
• Iemand die vraagt om ‘loyaal’ te blijven
• Dreiging met roddels of privé-informatie

Kralendijk,- On Monday, 10th June, the awareness campaign ‘Out of the Grip’ officially launched. The highlight took place on Thursday, 13th June, at the VMBO on Bonaire, where the first action was carried out.
The campaign focuses on young people on Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba, and draws attention to the growing problem of criminal exploitation.
In addition to the kickoff at SGB VMBO, the campaign will be rolled out next school year at Liseo on Bonaire and at Comprehensive School Saba and Gwendolyn van Putten School on Statia.
Young people increasingly being targeted
More and more young people — often without realizing it — are being approached by individuals who want to involve them in illegal activities. What starts small, like picking up or delivering items, or lending a bank account, can have serious consequences. This often happens through pressure, deception, or blackmail.
Flyer campaign and risk check at school
During the event, VMBO students received a flyer with warning signs and a QR code linking to an online risk check. Local influencers and the police engaged in conversations with the students to raise awareness about the issue.
At the same time, newspaper ads, radio spots, social media posts, and references to www.rijksdienstcn.com/uitdegreep appeared. On the website, both young people and parents can check if there is a risk and find out what to do in case of doubt.
Recognize the signs of criminal exploitation
Criminal exploitation often starts with:
• A task that must remain secret
• The promise of quick money or goods
• Someone asking you to “stay loyal”
• Threats involving gossip or private information
