Kralendijk,- Met trots en overtuiging vertegenwoordigt Nancy Winklaar, Miss Mami Dushi nr. 2, het eiland Bonaire in de Miss Mami Dushi-verkiezing op 29 juni 2025. Zij is geen model met een kroon, maar een vrouw met een verhaal. Een moeder die leeft vanuit zorg, geloof en liefde en die nu opstaat voor anderen.
Een dochter als inspiratie
Haar 11-jarige dochter Heavenlykesia is geboren met een beperking. “Zij is mijn grootste cadeau van God,” vertelt Nancy. “Zij heeft mij geleerd om te leven met geduld, moed en liefde en om mensen echt te zien.” Heavenlykesia is niet alleen haar dochter, maar ook haar dagelijkse inspiratiebron.
Vrijwillig, warm en verbindend
Al jarenlang zet ze zich vrijwillig in voor anderen. Ze kookt voor ouderen, organiseert activiteiten voor jongeren en mensen met een beperking, en zoekt altijd naar verbinding. Op Bonaire runde ze haar eigen foodtruck, Queen of the Night. Daar draaide het niet alleen om lekker eten, maar vooral om samenzijn, luisteren, lachen en delen.
Vijf talen, één hart
Met vijf talen op zak weet ze zich met velen te verbinden. Niet om indruk te maken, maar om écht contact te maken. Ze bouwt bruggen, laat iedereen in zijn of haar waarde en gelooft dat ieder mens erbij hoort precies zoals die is.
Een stem voor wie niet wordt gehoord
Met haar deelname wil Nancy laten zien hoe krachtig moeders zijn in het bijzonder Antilliaanse vrouwen, die vaak veel dragen maar weinig erkenning krijgen. Ze komt op voor kinderen die anders zijn, voor gezinnen die het moeilijk hebben, en voor iedereen die zich weleens buitengesloten voelt. Dat doet ze niet alleen met woorden, maar ook in daden: door haar vrijwilligerswerk, haar inzet in de buurt, en haar aanwezigheid voor wie zich ongezien voelt. Ze staat op met een boodschap van hoop, kracht en liefde – precies wat het Miss Mami Dushi-platform nodig heeft.

A daughter as inspiration
Her 11-year-old daughter Heavenlykesia was born with a disability. “She is the greatest gift God has given me,” Nancy shares. “She taught me to live with patience, courage and love – and to truly see others.” Heavenlykesia is not only her daughter but her daily inspiration.
Voluntary, warm, and connecting
For years, Nancy has volunteered for different groups. She cooks for the elderly, organizes activities for youth and people with disabilities, and always looks to bring people together. In Bonaire, she ran her own food truck, Queen of the Night. It was about more than food it was about being together, listening, laughing, and sharing.
Five languages, one heart
Speaking five languages, she connects with many not to impress, but to truly reach them. She builds bridges, respects everyone’s worth and believes each person deserves to belong just as they are.
A voice for the unheard
Through her participation, Nancy wants to show how powerful mothers can be especially Antillean women, who often carry so much but are rarely recognized. She stands up for children who are different, for struggling families, and for anyone who’s ever felt left out. And she does so not just with words, but with action through her volunteer work, her presence in the community, and her care for those who feel invisible. She stands with a message of hope, strength, and love exactly what the Miss Mami Dushi platform represents.
