STRATEGISCHE TARIEFDIALOOG BRENGT NUTSBEDRIJVEN BES-EILANDEN SAMEN OP BONAIRE

Kralendijk,- Nutsbedrijven van de BES-eilanden kwamen deze week bijeen op Bonaire voor een serie vergaderingen met de Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM), met als hoofdfocus de regelgeving en het tarievenbeleid voor de komende jaren.

Vertegenwoordigers van Statia Utility Company N.V. (STUCO), Sint Eustatius; Saba Electric Company, Saba; Contour Global Bonaire (CGB); en Water- en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) namen deel aan deze belangrijke dialoog met de ACM.

Tijdens de gesprekken werd onder andere gesproken over:

• De groeiende vraag naar energie en de noodzakelijke investeringen in infrastructuur;

• De druk die gepaard gaat met de energietransitie;

• Bezorgdheid over de afbouw van subsidies voor consumenten, wat mogelijk een negatieve impact kan hebben op de bedrijfsvoering en continuïteit van de dienstverlening.

De dialoog over tarieven vormde de belangrijkste aanleiding voor het bezoek. Tegelijkertijd bood het evenement een waardevolle gelegenheid om de samenwerking te versterken en kennis te delen in een informelere setting.

Ter gelegenheid hiervan organiseerde WEB een diner, waarbij de partners niet alleen stilstonden bij operationele zaken, maar ook bij het belang van solidariteit en samenwerking tussen de eilanden.

“Hoewel de focus lag op de strategische dialoog met de ACM, erkennen wij de waarde van gezamenlijk tijd doorbrengen om relaties te versterken,” aldus Joanne Nicastia, CFO van WEB Bonaire.

“Door voort te bouwen op gedeelde ideeën en ervaringen werken we aan een sterkere basis voor duurzame samenwerking.”

De nutsbedrijven bevestigden hun blijvende inzet om gezamenlijk te blijven werken aan duurzame en veerkrachtige nutsvoorzieningen voor alle gemeenschappen op de BES-eilanden

STRATEGIC TARIFF DIALOGUE BRINGS UTILITY COMPANIES OF THE BES-ISLANDS TOGETHER ON BONAIRE

Kralendijk,- Utility companies from the BES islands gathered this week in Bonaire for a series of meetings with the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), with a primary focus on regulation and tariff policies for the coming years.

Representatives from Statia Utility Company N.V. (STUCO), Sint Eustatius; Saba Electric Company, Saba; Contour Global Bonaire (CGB); and Water[1]en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) participated in this important dialogue with ACM, where they also discussed:

• The growing demand for energy and the necessary investments in infrastructure;

• The pressures accompanying the energy transition;

• Concerns about the reduction of subsidies for consumers, which could negatively impact operations and service continuity.

The dialogue on tariffs was the main reason for the visit. However, the event also offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration and share knowledge in a more informal setting.

To mark the occasion, WEB hosted a dinner where the partners reflected not only on operational matters but also on the importance of solidarity and cooperation among the islands.

“While the focus was on strategic dialogue with ACM, we recognize the value of spending time together to strengthen relationships,” said Joanne Nicastia, CFO of WEB.
