TOESPRAAK – OFFICIËLE OPENING VAN HET NIEUWE GEBOUW VAN WEB DOOR RAYMOND “ ROY “ SILBERIE – (CEO WEB)

Kralendijk,- Van harte welkom op deze bijzondere dag. Het is voor mij een grote eer om u vandaag toe te mogen spreken bij deze memorabele gelegenheid. Wij zijn hier bij elkaar om drie mijlpalen in de geschiedenis van WEB te vieren. –

Ten eerste de uitbreiding van onze drinkwaterfaciliteit te Hato. – Ten tweede de succesvolle voltooiing van het project Verzwaring WEB NOBO. – En tot slot, het moment waar we allen trots op mogen zijn: de officiële opening van ons nieuwe hoofdkantoor. — Uitbreiding van de Drinkwaterfaciliteit te Hato Tijdens de uitdagende periode van de COVID-19-pandemie bleef onze missie onveranderd: het garanderen van de continuïteit en kwaliteit van de drinkwatervoorziening op Bonaire. In 2021 is onze eigen drinkwaterproductie-installatie operationeel geworden.

WEB produceerde, na vele jaren dat de productie door een derde partij gebeurde, voor 100% haar eigen drinkwater! Deze installatie is modulair ontworpen, waardoor we op verantwoorde wijze kunnen opschalen wanneer de vraag toeneemt. Een significante toename in de vraag naar drinkwater heeft ernaartoe geleid dat de faciliteit uitgebreid moest worden in 2024.

Vandaag vieren wij de uitbreiding van deze installatie: een verhoging van onze productiecapaciteit van 7.200 naar 9.600 kubieke meter per dag. Daarmee verstevigen wij de betrouwbaarheid van de drinkwatervoorziening op het eiland. Dames en heren, mag ik een hartelijk applaus vragen voor alle collega’s die aan deze realisatie hebben bijgedragen.

In 2021 zijn wij gestart met een gedegen voorbereidingsproces: diepgaande studies, uitgebreide analyses en zorgvuldige planningen hebben ons geleid naar een weloverwogen aanpak. Het resultaat is een moderne, efficiënte en duurzame uitbreiding van de

elektriciteitsdistributiecapaciteit van Bonaire. Sinds mei 2025 is WEB NOBO volledig operationeel. Wat dit project extra bijzonder maakt, is dat de projectleiding uit een team van eigen WEB-personeel bestaat, met ondersteuning van internationale experts. Dit is een prestatie van formaat en daar zijn wij als WEB heel trots op. Ook hiervoor wil ik vragen om een warm applaus voor iedereen die zich hiervoor heeft ingezet. Naast de vorige twee grote mijlpalen, zijn we vandaag ook bijeen om een bijzonder moment in de geschiedenis van onze organisatie te vieren – een mijlpaal die symbool staat voor groei, vooruitgang en een vernieuwde toekomst. Met grote trots en voldoening heten wij u van harte welkom bij de officiële opening van ons nieuwe hoofdkantoor. Dit gebouw is veel meer dan een verzameling stenen, glas en staal. Het is een tastbare weerspiegeling van wie wij zijn, waar wij voor staan, en waar wij naartoe willen.

Vanaf het prille begin – van de eerste schetsen en funderingsplannen tot de minutieuze keuzes in kleuren, materialen en inrichting – is alles met uiterste zorg, visie en betrokkenheid tot stand gebracht. Wij hebben er bewust voor gekozen om een omgeving te creëren die niet alleen functioneel en efficiënt is, maar die ook warmte, openheid en samenwerking bevordert.

Een plek waar zowel onze klanten als onze collega’s zich welkom en gewaardeerd voelen. In het ontwerp is daarom bijzondere aandacht besteed aan klantvriendelijkheid, toegankelijkheid én het welzijn van onze medewerkers. Elk detail is afgestemd op de waarden die wij als organisatie hoog in het vaandel dragen: professionaliteit, verbondenheid en maatschappelijke betrokkenheid. Wij zijn trots dat dit nieuwe gebouw op Bonaire staat – een gemeenschap die wij met hart en ziel dienen. Dit kantoor is dan ook niet alleen een werkplek, maar een statement van onze blijvende inzet voor de inwoners van dit prachtige eiland.

Een project van deze omvang en betekenis komt echter niet tot stand zonder de inzet van velen. Daarom willen wij, directie en raad van commissarissen, op dit bijzondere moment graag een welgemeend woord van dank uitspreken aan iedereen die betrokken is geweest bij de realisatie van dit gebouw.

Van de architecten en bouwpartners tot de interne projectteams en collega’s: uw toewijding, professionaliteit en samenwerking hebben dit mogelijk gemaakt. Mag ik u allen vragen om samen met mij een hartelijk applaus te geven aan al deze mensen, die dit ambitieuze project tot een succesvol einde hebben gebracht.

Met gepaste trots, en met vertrouwen in de toekomst zullen wij met ons allen zo direct ons nieuwe kantoor als officieel geopend verklaren. Expansion of the Drinking Water Facility in Hato During the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, our mission remained unchanged: to ensure the continuity and quality of the drinking water supply on Bonaire. In 2021, our own drinking water production facility became operational.

After many years of production by a third party, WEB began producing 100% of its own drinking water! This installation was designed to be modular, allowing us to responsibly scale up as demand increases. A significant rise in demand for drinking water led to the expansion of the facility in 2024. Today we celebrate this expansion: an increase in our production capacity from 7,200 to 9,600 cubic meters per day. This further strengthens the reliability of the island’s drinking water supply. Ladies and gentlemen, may I ask for a warm round of applause for all the colleagues who contributed to this achievement.
