BON DOET 2025 WAS EEN SUCCES!

Kralendijk,- Afgelopen zaterdag, 17 mei 2025, hebben we BON DOET 2025 succesvol afgesloten. De editie van dit jaar was extra bijzonder omdat we het 15-jarig jubileum vierden van het grootste vrijwilligersevenement op Bonaire.

15 jarig jubileum

De viering begon op 15 mei met een speciaal evenement ter ere van de mensen achter BON DOET – van het oorspronkelijke team tot de maatschappelijke organisaties en talloze vrijwilligers die het evenement in de loop der jaren hebben geholpen.

Vrijwilligersactie 16 en 17 mei

Op 16 mei werd BON DOET 2025 officieel geopend met onze ouderen in Parke Tului. Onze interim-gezaghebber Ingrid Sealy hield een hartverwarmende toespraak ter gelegenheid van de twee dagen vrijwilligerswerk, waarin zij iedereen bedankte die een bijdrage leverde. Deze twee dagen lieten ons zien hoeveel we kunnen bereiken als we samenwerken. Vrijwilligers uit alle lagen van de bevolking bundelden hun krachten met maatschappelijke organisaties om een ​​helpende hand te bieden. Het was hartverwarmend om de glimlachen van onze ouderen te zien en evenzeer inspirerend om te zien hoe kinderen en jongeren zich inzetten.

Gedurende twee dagen deden meer dan 700 vrijwilligers mee, die een bijdrage leverden aan ruim 50 klussen. BON DOET-coördinator Roosje van der Hoek blikt terug op een geslaagde editie: “Zoals bij elk groot evenement kwamen we voor uitdagingen te staan. Maar met eensgezindheid en inzet hebben we de 15e editie van BON DOET tot een succes gemaakt. Het mooiste was om iedereen – ongeacht achtergrond, taal of leeftijd – te zien samenwerken met één gemeenschappelijk doel: een bijdrage leveren aan onze gemeenschap op Bonaire. De impact gaat verder dan het geleverde werk – het zit in de connecties die we hebben opgebouwd.”

Kralendijk,- This past Saturday, May 17, 2025, we successfully wrapped up BON DOET 2025. This year’s edition was extra special as we celebrated the 15th anniversary of the biggest volunteer event on Bonaire.

15th anniversary

The celebration kicked off on May 15 with a special event honoring the people behind BON DOET — from the original team to the nonprofit organizations and countless volunteers who helped grow the event over the years.

Volunteer Action on May 16 and 17

On May 16, BON DOET 2025 officially opened with our elderly community at Parke Tului. Our interim Island Governor Ingrid Sealy delivered a heartfelt speech to launch the two days of volunteer work, thanking everyone contributing to the cause. These two days showed us how much we can achieve when we come together. Volunteers from all walks of life joined forces with nonprofit organizations to lend a helping hand. It was heartwarming to see the smiles of our elders, and equally inspiring to watch children and young people get involved.

Over the course of the two days, more than 700 volunteers participated, contributing to over 50 different projects. BON DOET coordinator Roosje van der Hoek reflects on a successful edition: “Like any big event, we faced challenges. But with unity and commitment, we managed to make the 15th edition of BON DOET a reality. The most beautiful part was seeing everyone – regardless of background, language or age – working together with one shared goal: to contribute to our community on Bonaire. The impact goes beyond the work done – it’s in the connections we’ve built.”
