CBS: START NATIONALE REKENINGEN ENQUÊTE CARIBISCH NEDERLAND 2023

Kralendijk,- De komende maanden wordt er op de eilanden van Caribisch Nederland het jaarlijkse onderzoek onder bedrijven uitgevoerd voor het verslagjaar 2023.

Het onderzoek heeft tot doel de economische ontwikkeling op de drie eilanden in kaart te brengen. Een onderdeel van dit onderzoek is de Nationale Rekeningen enquête. Hiervoor worden bedrijven op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba door het CBS benaderd om een enquête in te vullen.  

De resultaten van het onderzoek worden in het laatste kwartaal van 2025 gepubliceerd.

Enkele resultaten uit het onderzoek Nationale Rekeningen 2022 op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba:

• De economie van Bonaire en Saba groeiden in 2022 met respectievelijk 8,8 en 1,5 procent. Op Sint Eustatius kromp de economie met 11,0 procent.
•  
• Door de beëindiging van alle coronamaatregelen op Bonaire in het begin van 2022 nam het inkomend toerisme per vliegtuig toe van 111 duizend toeristen in 2021 naar 173 duizend toeristen in 2022. Dit zorgde ervoor dat de toegevoegde waarde van zowel de horeca als de recreatiesector met ruim 45 procent toenam.
•  
• De economische krimp van 11,0 procent op Sint Eustatius, is veroorzaakt doordat de omzet van enkele grote bedrijven die sterk afhankelijk zijn van de internationale oliemarkt daalde. 
•  
• Op Saba leverde het openbaar bestuur de grootste positieve bijdrage aan de economische groei. De toegevoegde waarde van deze bedrijfstak steeg, omdat er 7 procent meer banen bij zijn gekomen in 2022.
•  
• Op Bonaire is de financiële dienstverlening het hardst gekrompen van alle bedrijfstakken (-9,6 procent). Dit is in lijn met de banenontwikkeling in deze bedrijfstak in 2022.

Om dit voor de eilanden zeer belangrijke onderzoek voorspoedig te laten verlopen, vraagt het CBS de medewerking van bedrijven.

Kralendijk,- During the next months, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) will carry out a survey among companies in the Caribbean Netherlands: the National Accounts Survey 2023.

The survey aims to show the economic development on the three islands. Companies on Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba will be approached by CBS to complete the questionnaire.

The results of the survey will be published in the last quarter of 2025.

Some results of the 2022 survey:

•  
• The economy of Bonaire and Saba grew by respectively 8.8 and 1.5 percent in 2022. On Sint Eustatius, the economy shrank by 11.0 percent.
•  
• Due to the termination of all corona measures on Bonaire at the beginning of 2022, incoming tourism by air increased, from 111 thousand tourists in 2021 to 173 thousand tourists in 2022. This caused the added value of both the hospitality and recreation sectors to increase by more than 45 percent.
•  
• The economic contraction of 11.0 percent on Sint Eustatius was caused by a decline in turnover of several large companies that are highly dependent on the international oil market.
•  
• On Saba, the public administration made the largest positive contribution to economic growth. The added value of this industry increased, because 7 percent more jobs were added in 2022.
•  
• Bonaire’s financial services sector shrank the most of all industries (-9.6 percent). This is in line with the job development in this industry in 2022.
