GROTE ZOEKACTIE OP SABA IN VERBAND MET LOPENDE MOORDZAAK

The Bottom,- Vandaag, zondag 21 september 2025, heeft op verzoek van het Openbaar Ministerie BES een grote zoekactie plaatsgevonden op Saba in verband met een lopende moordzaak.

De zoekactie werd uitgevoerd in nauwe samenwerking tussen het Korps Politie Caribisch Nederland (KPCN) en 28 Caribische militairen van Defensie Caribisch gebied, die op dat moment aanwezig waren op Saba voor de jaarlijkse orkaannoodhulp oefening van Defensie.

De inzet van deze militairen, mogelijk gemaakt door tussenkomst van de Gezaghebber, heeft een belangrijke bijdrage geleverd aan het verloop en de efficiëntie van de zoekactie.

Het Openbaar Ministerie BES spreekt zijn dank uit aan alle betrokkenen die hebben meegeholpen. In het bijzonder gaat een speciale dank uit naar Defensie Caribisch gebied en de Caribische militairen voor hun snelle en professionele ondersteuning. Het onderzoek in deze zaak loopt nog en het Openbaar Ministerie zal op een later moment nadere informatie verstrekken indien mogelijk.

LARGE-SCALE SEARCH OPERATION ON SABA IN CONNECTION WITH ONGOING MURDER CASE

The Bottom,- Today, Sunday September 21, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office BES, a large-scale search operation took place on Saba in connection with an ongoing murder case.

The search was carried out in close cooperation between the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) and 28 Caribbean soldiers from the Caribbean Defense Command, who were present on Saba at the time for the annual hurricane emergency response exercise.

The deployment of these soldiers, made possible by the intervention of the Lieutenant Governor, made an important contribution to the progress and efficiency of the search operation.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office BES would like to express its gratitude to all those involved who helped. In particular, special thanks go to the Caribbean Defense Forces and the Caribbean soldiers for their rapid and professional support. The investigation into this case is still ongoing and the Public Prosecutor’s Office will provide further information at a later time if possible.
