Kralendijk,- Meer dan 250 kinderen van drie basisscholen op Bonaire maakten deze week op een unieke manier kennis met klassieke muziek.

Pianist Alexander Kraft van Ermel gaf miniconcerten op basisschool Rayo di Solo, Kolegio Strea Briante en basisschool Aquamarin, waarbij hij klassieke muziek combineerde met een authentieke Caribische klank.

De concerten werden georganiseerd in samenwerking met het Classical Music Board Bonaire en het cultureel educatieprogramma EKADK (Educación Kultural Artístiko di Kalidat). Het doel is kinderen kennis te laten maken met een muzieksoort die niet altijd aanwezig is op Bonaire. Kraft van Ermel wist de kinderen direct te boeien met zijn toegankelijke manier van presenteren en interactieve optreden. “De kinderen waren erg enthousiast en luisterden met volle aandacht,” aldus een woordvoerder van Classical Music Board.

“Tijdens zijn optreden ging Alexander de dialoog aan met de kinderen, waardoor de drempel om waardering te krijgen voor klassieke muziek veel lager werd.” Caribische wortels in klassieke muziek Alexander Kraft van Ermel (1990) groeide op op Curaçao en kreeg zijn eerste pianolessen van zijn moeder en later van zijn oudoom, de bekende componist en pianist Wim Statius Muller.
